Is it normal not to get a response after sending an email like this?

My coworker still has two more weeks left at this company. He's a contractor so he doesn't use company email. I sent him this yesterday,"
"Hi ______,
I enjoyed working with you all these years so it's sad to see you go. I know I haven't worked with you much in recent years, but you were one of the first people I met at LS when I started as a case manager in 2008. Thanks for being a support during some of my more challenging cases way back in the day. I wish you the best and good luck. Feel free to keep in touch.

  • He def knew I had a crush on him years ago, we used to flirt without it going anywhere (not single). I was laid off for years and came back. We had a nice long catch up conversation but with our schedules rarely lining and with covid reducing his client base, I haven't seen him in person since Dec 2019 (when I almost crashed into him as he rushed out, late for something and he thanked me for processing his plans) With our long work history it seems cold not respond at all, no? Or is to be expected because I haven't seen him in so long?
