What is the longest you have stayed in touch with someone you met on the internet?

For me it has been 4 or 5 years. I lost touch with that person this year because the site we communicated on burned down.

This could be friends or something else.

We were just friends on a Linux Forum. Sort of like Linux Brothers.

The longest I have ever stayed in touch with a female online is about a year. After a year is up it is usually done. 9 times out of 10 less than a week and it is done. Pretty sad really.

For me, 5 years too with someone on Steam, but a few months back he went silent and has been offline ever since. Although based on circumstantial evidence on his Discord, I think he just doesn't wanna communicate with me anymore and is being "invisible". I did unfriend him on Steam after 5 years, but I didn't on Discord although I may consider unfriending him there too. We initially met through some online match in Left 4 Dead 2, and although we've had our differences, we got along quite well.

I think it's probably more than 15 years. It's folk I have met in real life though so that may not count. Some people I only met because we went to some places and met once but there aren't many who solely came into my life online that I stay in touch with.
