What's the longest online friendship/relationship you've ever had?

I mean purely online. Never met up in person, no videochatting, no phonecalls, no texting. Just emails or instant messages or interaction on a forum like this one. Also, how would you describe the relationship? Purely platonic or something else?

I think the longest I've had was with somebody on here. WeaponZero, and I've been talking with him on here for about four years. Purely platonic, since I'm straight and he's... I think he might be asexual. (Just kidding, Zero)

Second and third place are both girls. One is somebody I met on here, but isn't here anymore, and she lives in england. We're pretty good friends, I'd think, and I've talked to her a lot, though less in recent years. I think I've been friends with her for three years.

Third place for time (but second in friendship... at least online) I think that would probably be with PoeticNinja for two years. Also platonic, since I'm taken. Though she IS very pretty. Yes I know there are a lot of people who have issues with her for one reason or another, but she's alright if you really get to know her. Then again, I'm pretty sure you people don't much like me either, but I digress.

Yeah, I think the longest purely online relationships I have are on this site. Everywhere else I either eventually end up meeting them, or I talk on the phone or video.

Sure. We talk about all kinds of stuff. We also give each other advice when we can. When we're not doing that, we're just talking about the movies, or TV, or music, or whatever else. Sometimes talking about what's going on in one another's lives. It's all good.

Friendship - several years ago and probably over the period of 6 months I frequently played GTA 4 and a variety of other games (but I met him through gta) online with a norwegian whom I never met and whos real name I never knew.

Its a bit messed up I felt more of a connection with him than some people I knew in real life

As far as relationships go (and only now do I realize how embarassing this is) I think when I was ten I had a week-ish long girlfriend on runescape. Embarassing regardless of how long ago it was.

Relationship. I guess I was around 10/11 years old at that time and I met a boy of 11 via YouTube. I know, it's REALLY young, haha! I was genuinely interested in him and he asked me to be his girlfriend, so I agreed (we were pretty mature in our thoughts about love at that age and we both really loved each other like adult lovers do). He lived in Amsterdam and I lived on the other side of the country, so we never met, although we really wanted to. My parents didn't want me to meet up with him, although his parents were completely fine with it. Long story short, we really loved each other and sent cute messages, but due to the fact that we were never able to see each other, we broke up after 3 months. Online puppy love at it's finest. :)
