A praying mantis. If it's not inside, just let it be, it eats all sort of insects, and it's not dangerous.
If it's inside, you can catch it in a box or on a paper, and put it outside.

Is it on the outside of your window or on the inside of your window? If it's on the outside of your window, just let it be, it'll eventually leave. If it's on the inside of your window (inside your house), either carefully catch it in a box/container with lid and release it outside if your not too afraid of bugs, if you are afraid of bug's jut gobble it up with the vacuum hose.

I used to get these on the wall of my apartment balcony.
I would sit and watch them for hours.
One day I took a close up picture of one that looked directly at my phone and if it was posing for it's picture to be taken. 😅 The picture even showed it's eyes. Cute!

That is a mantis religiosa also know as a praying mantis & in some cultures spotting a praying mantis is considered a symbol of good luck and good fortune.

Unfortunately if you are a bug & you spot a mantis it is not good luck at all & it probably means you are on the dinner menu.

Good luck & good fortune to you for seeing that Gertrude twice. If you could see the abdominal segments the males have 8 segments & the females have 6 segments. Both have wings, males can fly however females cannot. If you had a lighter photo you would be able to tell.

I recently spotted a praying mantis on a tree in my front yard.
I stood very still and watched it closely for several minutes, taking video of the encounter.
I found it to be interesting that as cars passed in front of my house, the mantis would turn its head towards the sound of the approaching vehicles before they appeared, then its head would follow the motion of the cars until they had passed my house and disappeared.
Unless a passing car was present, if and when I'd make a movement, its head would immediately turn towards me.
If a passing car was present, my movements were ignored by the mantis.

It's amazing what one can witness when observing nature.

It’s probably actually male. Female mantids tend to have a bigger abdomen. Males also have three smaller abdominal segments where females have one larger segment at the end of their abdomen. So you can determine sex by counting those segments.

They are good to have around because they are natural pest control. Very effective hunters, and voracious. Unfortunately they are not particular about their prey. So they will eat other helpful species as well as pests.

They kill their own kind. The females will kill and eat the males during or after mating.

Mantises are pest control, like spiders or wasps, they eat smaller pests as part of their diet

It's good luck. He is also a master at hunting other bugs that you don't want around the house. They are symbols of divine protection and spiritual guidance.

One more interesting fact they change colors like a chameleon.

That's is actually false, it being illegal to kill mantis's is just a myth that started in the 1950's.
