Should i keep my focusrite 2i2 if i’m not gonna use it with my mic? Or should i return it?

I just bought a new Shure Mv7+ microphone and a focusrite 2i2 (4th gen) anniversary edition Audio interface.

I got my focusrite first
But when I finally got my Mic, i learned that the shure Motiv mix app doesn’t work when’s it connected to XLR. Only By USB.

I paid $172 for the focusrite and $269 for the MIC. I don’t even use the interface. Do i really need it?

Return it. Your mic has a USB connection hence the 2i2 is unnecessary. The mic will probably sound better USB without an extra piece (Focusrite) in the signal path anyway.

Your Shure mic has a built in analog to digital converter that was engineered to work with the transducer (mic) it came with. Introducing the Focusrite gives you the chance of a lower quality sound due to the possibility of poor gain structure, badly terminated cable, driver issues, bad device, etc. Why not just use the USB that the mic came with and was engineered by Shure to sound great on? Not knocking the Focusrite, I work in a studio and am just suggesting the KISS (keep it simple) approach. The Yamaha console I use daily cost more than my car.
