What are you trying to do with it? If you're just yapping online then it really doesn't matter. If you're recording music then that's a whole different enchilada. A condenser mic is going to be more sensitive and pick up everything in the room, more background noise. You can talk further away from it. If you're recording louder sound or want to only record sound from one source like singing into it, talking close to the mic, or put it in front of a guitar amp then cardioid. If you're recording music and care about sound quality then get a mic made by an actual microphone manufacturer like Shure, Audio Technica, Sennheiser, AKG, etc
You have the interface that allows you to use an xlr mic with your computer? What does metal have to do with anything? Is it making the mic feedback? If not then you don't need to mount anything, just use a mic stand or desktop mic stand
I only know about live music traditional mics, drum mics, etc. Shure is industry standard, you can't really go wrong with them. The are a ton of different kinds of desktop mic stands you can choose from, just shop around until you find something that suits your needs

I have a scarlet solo audio interface
I can’t mount a boom arm onto my desk because of the metal underneath my desk.
Dude have you ever heard of a microphone stand
You don't need to mount some silly boom arm onto your desk
Do you know any these mics? I need advice on which one to buy
@Staximus I ordered a shure mv7+, what do you think of that Mic?

It's good that you got a mic made by a microphone manufacturer, though. Shure mics are known for their long lifespan and durability
What’s a good xlr cable? For shure
I think Logitech makes cheap, crappy equipment.
