Folks who work in tech shops that repair laptops, have you ever gone through your client’s files on their laptop out of curiosity?

A while ago i dropped my laptop off at a tech shop as i needed my keyboard to be replaced (i dropped my laptop pretty hard and my keyboard broke), i also had work files on there where i store my session notes with clients and forgot to lock it with a password, and now im wondering if the person that replaced my keyboard went through the files without me knowing. I know, i know it’s my bad that i forgot to lock the files, and now im a little stressed wondering if the tech person had gone through my work files

Entirely theoretical answer:

When I conceive someone fixing computers, I think of someone fixing bodies, like a surgeon. Perhaps that surgeon was looking at bodies as something intimate at the beginning of their training, but I think that, after a while, they must look at bodies like objects, like mechanisms, in a very detached way.

So I believe that your files, whatever they are, would not be interesting for these folks?

Generally, your files are  not  safe. Ask Hunter Biden. When I have to send in a laptop, I move any personal files to an external drive.

There are news stories all over about one very well-known repair service that goes through everyone's files when they are supposed to be working on something completely unrelated to that, and they report people for underage porn. It turned out most of them were either their own children (ordinary family photos in clothes like everyone has of their kids etc.), or not underage at all. There are some big lawsuits going on.
