Do you ever miss a time where smart phones wasn't a thing?

I realized I spent all day yesterday not on my phone. Just enjoying my friend playing card games and getting drunk lol

It was honestly a feeling I forgot because I spend entirely way too much time on my smart phone which I know is very sad. It made me reminisce about the past before smart phones existed.

They are a great convenience. Very helpful in an emergency, calling road assistance or a friend. But when people are in a group and no one is talking but looking at instagram or reddit or tumblr on their phones, that seems unfortunate to me. could've stayed home...

Nice to turn it off, read a book or watch a film or talk on the phone... But texts are great to give valuable information: we're meeting at 10, the address is, the phone is, the car I'm in is a blue one, I'm 5 feet tall... Stuff like that.

When it doesn't detach people, but provides info and help, they're great. Great for looking up quick facts. But not all day all the time.

Do not feed the boomers. Sorry, just random sarcasm. No. Not random actually. Anyways. Whenever I use, a lot, any device to access the internet, there's an opportunity for me to wonder:  Am I using it because I'm genuinely more interested in what the internet offers than whatever happens offline? My answer is: Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, there's just nothing appealing around me. Plus, I'm a veteran in managing whatever my own mind wants to guilt trip me about.

I didn't get one until 2018 and I didn't know a thing about what they actually were capable of doing. I'm still very limited in that way because I am not tech savvy.
I really resent that we are being forced by businesses to HAVE to do business with them online only.
I don't spend very much time with mine. Mostly when coming to visit my GaG family.

Yes, we'd be better off without them. People always thought television was such a waste of time. Then computers came along and they were an even bigger waste of time. Then mobile computers (smart phones) came along so you can waste your time no matter where you go. People are becoming completely oblivious to the world around them.

It has a lot of advantages, like finding your way in an unknown town by car or walking. But I belong to the generation that can still find his way using a foldable road map.

It's good to be able to contact someone any time. On the contrary, it's also invasive when you don't want to receive any calls. Best solution: switch it off when I'm with my family.

Not really. I think smartphones are very useful and make my life easier. As someone who's constantly travelling and lives in a different country from the rest of my family having a smartphone is a blessing as it allows me to keep it touch with them pretty much all the time without having to spend a bunch of money.

not really. You had a great day away from your smart phone and you can choose to do that any day you want. am more dependent on a smart phone now because everything is integrated if I’m chilling on a Saturday, I’ll put this thing in another room and act like it doesn’t exist. I refuse to go back and forth texting people I could accomplish the same thing with a five minute phone conversation. When I get tired of this thing, I just ignore it.

Yes. And social media, internet everywhere. I remember life before smartphones, the internet, a lot of the stuff that we know and love today. It was better then.

I do. I hate how we rely on them to function now. Even when Im trying to access my online baking, you need to have your phone present for dual-authentication. It feels like that with everything. Even my medical devices have transferred to using the smart phone... its nice to have peaceful moments like the one you had.

Every now and then. Sometimes, when I go on my lunch break at work,  everyone  is on their phone. It’s quite sad. To go off on a little tangent, that’s partly why no one knows how to communicate anymore. 😔

Yes but, since I don't feel the need to have one surgically attached to my hand 24/7, like most people do, and I rarely ever even turn it on, it's not that much of a personal bother to me.

I spent much of my life without smart phones. We did just fine with land lines, pay phones, letters, and talking to people in person.

I don't miss it at all. I like my smartphone a lot because it's very convenient and it saves me a lot of time and energy. It's been quite useful and continues to be quite useful.
