This showed up on my screen a couple months ago and keeps giving me pop-ups. I can't get rid of it! Anybody know what this annoying blue gizmo is?

... and how to get rid of it? I tried system restore several times and the computer refuses to let me go back any farther than when it showed up!! I've run malware scans several times and they can't find it!

It looks like one of those fake virus warnings that pop up called "scareware." They are a type of malicious software or scam designed to trigger panic and trick you into believing your computer is infected, so you will pay for fake security software or download actual malware.

I don't know what it is. It's not really scaring me but I'm pretty sure it IS some kind of malware because, as soon as it showed up a few months ago, I started getting these pop-up ads in a second window almost every time I click on something else.
For instance: at 45cat, I click in their search bar to look up a record and, as soon as I click there, another smaller window shows up with an ad for shit I have absolutely no interest in!
Whatever it is, I'd LOVE to get rid of it!!!
