Why are people so happy about advanced AI if it may harm society?

People are happy because AI and robotics are developed so much, as if it will do favors for them. Since AI and robots won't be good for most people, they will just take our jobs.

The rich will see us as useless resource consumers. Even so far, AI only did bad things rather than good things for the society.

Because I’m hoping ai takes every single job there is and ubi is implemented. The ultimate goal should be that no human should have to work. But so many people are so attached to their jobs and make it their whole identity. Literally can’t think of anything else to do with their life and don’t see a purpose or know who they are without their job. Ridiculous. It comes from being brainwashed your whole life into thinking your worth is attached to your job title. And they talk about how the elite would be able to control you if ubi was a thing, as if they’re not controlling us already. I’d rather be controlled and not have to work, than have to work and be controlled anyway.

Generative AI does more harm than other forms of AI. Robots rarely replace humans perfectly, you ever see those videos of self-driving cars going crazy and doing donuts in the middle of the road, running over fire hydrants? Humans will always be needed, especially in moments like that. And AI advancing in things like the medical field can be massively beneficial. But generative AI is the one that does more harm than anything, and that bubble is popping hard. I wouldn’t worry

artificial intelligence can be something that will benefit mankind. It can assist scientists to find new medical and technological advancements and can enhance efficiency. It could result in having a shortened work week, however the reality is that it will be owned by the wealthy to become wealthier. The rest of us will be unemployed.
