Why did my private Instagram account gain followers overnight?

I just remember having like only 215 followers and instagram cleared bots so it went down to 203 and then yesterday my followers reached 245 what does that mean? I don't accept any followers because my account is private so what happened?

A private Instagram account can gain new followers overnight if spam or bot accounts automatically request to follow you and your account settings allow those requests to bypass manual approval, or if the platform resolves backend server delays that were miscalculating your total follower count.
