Why do you think people are drawn to moral outrage online?

For every one opinion there is an opposing and opposit one. Most humans congregate in groups of like minded people so it isn't always obvious but since the Internet we have expand the number of opinions circulating in our inner worlds and it's a clash of the titans! People dint like having their own moral judgments challenged. It distorts their perception of the world and safety in it.

People like to feel superior over ideological opposites, and online you can run your mouth without getting punched for it

It is simple to reduce others to a stereotype when one does not intereact with them in person. Going off online anonymusly is far easier than dealing face-to-face with a real live unique individual.
