If AI kills someone are the developers guilty of homicide?

Liability is just one area of the law that doesn't exist yet for AI. Any government statute is always 25 years behind technology?

• Is Microsoft or Google liable because they funded the development of the AI and they profit from it?
• Can corporations claim personhood for the AI like the dumbass courts determined Corporations are people to allow dark money in politics? Why wouldn't corporations try to dodge liability for an AI run amok?
• Can you blame the developer or the coding team?
• How about the team that built the data used to train the AI?
• How about the chip manufacturer who built the architecture the AI runs on?

And it's not just a question of homicide and criminal law. What if an AI gives someone business advice or investment advice and they rely on it to their detriment? Is there any recourse under civil law to recoup damages? What if an investment manager is using an AI to control his trades and the AI trashes a $10 Billion fund and wipes out thousands of investors? Who's paying that court settlement?

That’s an interesting question. Probably not in the US.
Remember that the laws are designed primarily to protect people and organizations like those developing and implementing AI. There are never charges against those people and companies no matter how despicable their actions. We MIGHT see one or two civil lawsuits before the lobbyists persuade our lawmakers to legislate their immunity from lawsuits; just like the protections the drug companies have. In fact, with that precedent in place, the AI developers very likely already have set their legal immunities into motion.
That said, we are seeing a rise in parents being held accountable for their sh*tty kids’ crimes. As far as i’m concerned, AI should be handled similarly. If you create AI and fail to instill fundamental human values, if it hurts or kills someone then you should definitely be held responsible.
