+1 yhey, then it would be entirely fact based.. whereas if its a jury its still emotional based to some degree... i was once ordered for jury service at a crown court, so fairly serious, i didn't want to do it, i had anxiety bad at that time, i also couldnt afford it having to pay travel upfront, i had no childcare, and i would of lost wages.. all you get is expenses... i would of left around 7am got home around 6pm with two primary aged children... and none of that counted... at all... so if i was a juror then, how do we think all of those things would of affected me during that trial? luckily i cared for a disabled lady 3 times a week so she wrote in to say it would be harmful to her welfare... so on that count perhaps a. i would of been a better option... omg youve just made me think for the first time ever a. i running prisons... makes sense... but what would ai do now here in the uk there are no prison spaces... i suppose if someone was seriously dangerous they would have to be contained, but just recently a known crime leader criminal past charges of violence, assault etc stabbed an old man on a mobility scooter for no apparent reason... but there was footage of him just before walking across a road, then just after holding the knife, wiping the blood off casually,,, in front of him was a woman pushing a buggy not 15 feet... he made no moves toward her at all... despite then claiming mental health issues... the police accepted this and he was given a hospital sentence where the judge said it would not be in anyones interest to ever... ever!!! put him in a normal prison... now i watched a video of that mother fucker being arrested and he was well aware of the situation... so another guy, immigrant let loose here in the uk, killed a well loved school caretaker, two weeks from retirement and two beautiful fresh talented students in our streets... again.. mental health... diagnosed... but out in public and a condition if meds are not taken highly dangerous... unyet from his arrest until a few days later he never saw a mental health professional? but when it goes to court they are all of unsound mind... ai could take lie detection tests, brain scans, body scans etc and take actual law then find the correct course of action... it would illiminate jurors being hacked, dodgy judges?

All this is very nice with if this and that and the AI is non partial etc. etc. etc.. Question is how you know that it has not been hacked, preprogramed for a vote one way or the other or has gone rogue. Better to stick with the old fashioned jury and human nature

5.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That won't happen because it would be unconstitutional violation of the Sixth Amendment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ukR5BDuNtw
This is the Sixth Amendment:
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."
As described in the SCOTUS opinion of the case Thiel v. Southern Pacific,
"Trial by jury presupposes a jury drawn from a pool broadly representative of the community as well as impartial in a specific case."
Since any artificial intelligence system is not a "representative of the community", it would not be capable of being in a jury pool, let alone being a juror.
Reminds me of this scene in Star Trek:03 Reply- +1 y
That was great and you went to a lot of trouble and time for the correct explanation. BUT you forget that you are dealing with THE DEMOCRATIC COMMUNIST PARTY OF AMERICA who cares nothing about constitution of anything that stands in their way. So anything that you can say about the constitution will be disregarded or per usual ignored just like Biden and Harris due with the border for the last three years. CONSTITUTION BE DAMMED

@onedarkcloud That's a bunch of horseshit. Be better than that.

LMFAO!
5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Unconstitutional in the US under the 6th amendment.
Assuming that weren't a factor however, it would be a disaster because AI does not weigh social or civil issues objectively because the people who control and program them are not objective. Any verdict that was ever to be decided by AI would be easily appealed.
AI is a tool, not a person or a god.

30 Reply 1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It would certainly be better than humans... free of human bias, based on facts, and how the law is applied to whatever the person is accused of.
I have been the Foreman, on a criminal trial, and have seen first hand how some, people, (usually men) that tried to bull doze or intimidate other jurors, into seeing things 'their way" AI would be my choice to avoid that.

+1 yMight not be a bad thing, perhaps they can take the emotion out of the trial. It should would change the lawyer's cross examination approach.

+1 yIn the US, the defendant is entitled to a jury of their peers. Unless an AI is being charged, an AI jury would be illegal.

00 ReplyJudge is the most UN AI able job, There job is to literally find out what to sentance someone when the law isn't fully working. So there jobs are safe.
