AI seems to dominate almost every news headline, social media discussion, and conversation these days. It feels like there is barely any other topic people talk about anymore.
Is AI really transforming the world at such an unprecedented pace, or are the media, tech companies, and investors exaggerating its impact? Why has AI become such a dominant topic, and how much of this attention reflects reality versus hype? Is AI really taking over everything?

It has, is and will transform the world to some extent. I'd compare it to smartphones realistically, not robot overlords.
It is not overhyped. The exact opposite is the case. In lab more than a year ago we already had access to Gemini 2.5 at the start of summer 2025. Gemini 2.5 back then, unreleased prototype version, was on par with the current Claude Opus 5.5. The current lab level AI are much better. The problem is simply that it costs too much and so is not available to the public.
There are a lot of concerns to go with AI and it is a much more complicated topic than I feel i can do justice in a short message here, given how relevant it is. But as an "insider", AI is way better than most people think.
I find it really overrated from my little use. This site is the perfect example of how it is overrated.
Tech always transforms the world, and the more fast and efficient the more it does.
Ai is taking over and will wipe out humanity within 10 years
More like screwing everything up
