My Trip to Sedona Arizona

For anyone considering a trip to Sedona, Arizona I would highly recommend a visit to Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. Beautiful boutiques, shops and food! It was built in the 1970’s with the intention of being an arts community and B&B and named after a city with the same name on the out skirts of Guadalajara.

Chapel of the Holy Cross is located about 10 minuets south of down town Sedona. Construction was completed in 1956 after 18 months of construction and was awarded the American Institute of Architects in 1957. The chapel was inspired and commissioned by local rancher and sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude as a representation of her faith and memorial to her parents.

I think that my favorite part of the trip was the hike to Devil's Bridge. It's an extremely popular spot so we got to the trail head at 6 AM for the four and a half mile round trip hike, reaching the summit just as the sun started coming up over the ridge. Rising 50 feet into the air, this arch is just as beautiful to witness from below as it is from above. Fortunately, the Devil Bridge Trail can accommodate hikers who are interested in both vantage points. The trail was originally designed for vehicles so hiking either path works out well for those seeking a moderately difficult journey.

Sedona is a city that straddles the county line between Coconino and Yavapai counties in the northern Verde Valley region of the U.S. state of Arizona. The city was named after Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly , the wife of Theodore Carlton Schnebly, the city's first postmaster, who was celebrated for her hospitality and industriousness. Her mother, claimed to have made the name up because "it sounded pretty". The city also has quite the cinematic legacy, and played host to more than sixty Hollywood productions dating back to 1923, including films such as Angel and the Badman, Desert Fury, Blood on the Moon, Johnny Guitar, The Last Wagon, and 3:10 to Yuma.
