Do you think the Pacific Northwest is a beautiful and underrated part of the US?

The scenery (mountains, valleys and coastline) is breathtaking.

The music; the grunge foursome (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains), Heart and Jimi Hendrix. Remember, rock music would have died out entirely in 1985 (replaced by pop and top 40 stuff) if it weren't for this city.

The food; best seafood🐟🦐🐬 anyone tastes in their mouths, and best coffee☕ (birthplace of Starbucks).

Bill Gates; if it weren't for him, there would be no Microsoft.

That volcanic🌋 eruption (I know that event was a bad thing) in the early 1980s put the region on the map.

And even though it appears to be more homogeneous than other places (Seattle is 65% white and decreasing, Portland is 70% white and also dwindling) it seems a bit more on the integrated side (or maybe that's just me) than other proudly segregated cities (New York, Chicago, Detroit, San Fran, Philly, LA, etc).

Sure the politics sucks, and some of the inhabitants there suck (I'm not a fan of antifa myself). But the PNW beats any other place in the country, except maybe New England (Boston is also nice).

I don't know. The Columbia River and coastal areas are byfar my favorite. Everything east of the Cascades is boring and unattractive. Washington is quite lovely, but the only part of Oregon I really enjoy is the coast.
Portland is very a fascinating city, but the Liberals have completely ruined it.

I DO agree with you that its music is some of the best in country.

It really depends what you like. I live in California, and Oregon doesn't feel that much different from home to me, except the coastal areas and far north. Washington is definitely the more interesting of the two states. The states has a typical Northern Vibe, which I really like.

But is it the most "underrated"? I don't know. I certainly wouldn't call it the most beautiful. And I think that Nevada and Wyoming are more underrated.

Don't take offense, but I think California is overrated... at least the Los Angeles area is.

Yes I prefer Bay Area to LA. I prefer Vancouver BC to seattle but I prefer seattle to Portland

Scenery is fine, except the southern half of Alaska has you beat in that field decisively, and without the scenery, there's little reason to actually be there.

Microsoft and Bill Gates are hardly things to brag about anymore.

I grew up in Seattle and I think it’s too white and Portland is even worse. Also the winters are depressing and the culture is overall stupid. I can see why others like Seattle but I personally do not and I left.
