I agree! I toured central and Northern WI last summer. I was absolutely shocked at how beautiful the state is. From the picture perfect farm lands, right down to the red barns, to the rolling hills with the most dense forests I have ever seen, which were mainly hard wood forests, not just pine trees. And of course, the miles and miles of coast because of all the lakes. I would have never imagined how breath taking it would be. I would like to see it in winter but I hate the cold.
I don't know about underrated but Colorado maybe

I think the lakes and caves around the Ozarks are pretty nice. I've lived in a bunch of regions in the U. S... they're all so very different since we're such a vast expanse it really comes down to what kind of natural beauty you like.
Probably close -- it's not as well known as the mountain west or either coast.
