Is it ironic the Party of Lincoln is the party fighting to preserve confederate memorials?

It's not like people learn history from statues.

There's a statue of Gen William Worth in NYC, and I'll wager 99% of New Yorkers have no idea who he is, so don't give me the argument that without monuments, people wouldn't know history. We have textbooks, non-fiction, lectures, etc to teach history.

No, it's what the party has become since Nixon's Southern Strategy
No, its' the democrats who want to preserve monuments to those democrats of the past

For those of you saying "it's history," answer me this: is there any historical figure or group that does not deserve a monument? If monuments teach history, should any person or group be off limits to having a monument dedicated to him/them?
