We think of WOKE as being a modern day irritation, for example It's common to hear you never see a same race family in a TV advert anymore.

So what do you make of these very old photos from Tiger Bay Cardiff in Wales from about a 100 years ago?

People like who they like. Period. Some people are attracted to those that are different from them. There are men who are into other men. Women into women. Men who are into both men and women.


I will say this about those photos. Transportation back then isn’t what it used to be. Those individuals most likely lived in close proximity to each other and most likely they spent a considerable amount of time with each other do to the inability to venture very far from home looking for someone that matched their own skin tone.

That's not what "woke" is about. "Woke" is about shoving a destructive ideology in people's faces (and sometimes it's also about cheap, targeted advertisement). These photos are either family or company photos, as far as I can see. Thus, they were not made in order to spread any ideology, making them Your usual human activity, not a part of the "woke" pandemic.

They’re just old photos if they have no been doctored.

They're just old photos, nothing woke about them. When they were taken, woke wasn't even a concept.
