Is this being irresponsbile or just being lazy to even take notice?

How come there are many people who make trip arrangments, book plane tickets and all but then they later found out their passport is due already and their trip could be soon and before they make arragements they dont take into the account of checking their passport first?

In the US, most travel is domestic... you don't need a passport. International travel for some is rare, and they don't think to check to see if their passport is still valid, or if they even have a passport (many Americans don't). The pandemic has affected this also. Even seasoned international travelers may have let their passport expire since they weren't travelling internationally the past few years due to the pandemic.

There used to be a joke that gate agents would pull on people flying from Los Angeles to Hawaii... they would ask boarding passengers if they had their passport and several people panicked... before being told that Hawaii is part of the US, you don't need a passport for domestic travel. Sometimes, the joke would continue during the flight as flight attendants would ask if anyone needed to buy Hawaiian money. LOL

i booked trips and let them fly without me.
just because you book does not mean you must take it.
didn't even storno.
but i always had my papers in order. each time i could fly with no problems.

I wouldn't plan a trip unless I knew everything was up to date but I am a planner, not everyone is that way and have a lot going on in their lives which can make things hard to remember so I wouldn't necessarily say it's irresponsible or lazy. You ready don't know what people are going through. Even the people who are close to us. People hide things from loved ones friends and that's why some things may seem irresponsible or lazy. Just try and remember everyone is different and have things going on in their life and better to just leave it alone the person will figure it out on their own I'm sure

Sorry you're having this problem...
All I can say is I'm still not quite 100% about the year.
When I went to apply for a course I took my passport and the lady photocopied it.
It was only after she called me when I got home she told me that it had expired.

For the life of me still thought we were in 2021 which would have meant I still had 6 months left but actually it was 8moths out of date!

Im not having this issue you are mistaken is a friend of mine who just realized her passport is due and she has a upcoming trip on May 3rd
