In a lot of ways I think it's absolutely great just to learn different things but I really think before we start thinking about civilization on other planets or making colonies on other planets we need to get it right on Earth First we need to eliminate ignorance on our planet first we need to stop killing each other each other on our planet first we need to start learning how to love and be there for each other on our planet first look how fast this world is going look at our technology we not just get it in our hands and it changes but one thing has it ever changed its how you treat other people and that's what needs to change there are so many of us that I understand this and we have that in our lives each and every day we know what love is all about we know where we want to go but when you have a ignorant people all around the world it won't allow things to grow and hold us back and then you have the people didn't want you change it so fast but not for all the people only for the rich that's at 2 because they will find out the hard way it doesn't work that way all the ignorant people we'll find out living life like that will take you down the wrong path just like with the rich people you will both end up in the same places

It's absolutely fantastic! :) I've always supported space travel and exploration, if only because it's absolutely true that if we, as a species, do not move on to other planets within and beyond our solar system, it will only be a matter of time before we wind up extinct like the dinosaurs. The expression, "Do not put all your eggs in one basket (the Earth)" is applicable here.

Outside of a few free tickets into space, it is largely the domain of the insanely rich. They so far aren't accomplishing anything other than seeing space and coming back down so they can post about it on their Instagrams. I think long term, this type of travel is only going to be a money grab and/or a means to Darwinize other planets for the benefit of only the few.

Its the way privatisation works. NASA want to send people to the moon/Mars/etc, but it's too expensive for them to do themselves, so instead, they pay a company like SpaceX, who offer to do it more cheaply because they make extra on the side by doing these pleasure trips for billionaires.

Usually what happens is that the private company makes as much money as possible, as quickly as possible, but never fulfils their contractual obligations (they never land a man on the moon), the people at the top of the company shield themselves from any losses or consequences, and the taxpayer foots the bill.

At least it's not something important, like healthcare or education...

Paying a quarter million dollars for a 15-minute ride that may not even qualify as getting to space (BlueOrigin?) seems to be a waste. In time, I hope that civilian space travel becomes a reality for the average person, just like air travel as become.

I already think so much road travel is ridiculously unnecessary, let alone any other kind. It just creates more pollution, more expenses, more environmental damage, more people dead or crippled, more wars over oil, more ways to fight wars, etc. and it hasn't really served a significant purpose. I'm not in favor of ANYONE doing space-travel... unless it's for purposes of strengthening our military defenses (satellites, etc).

It’s not real yet, but I imagine it will be. Civilian airplanes have been getting higher and higher in the atmosphere to cut down flight time. Eventually American Airlines will be space shuttles able to get us to Asia in 20 minutes.

Actually, it's the first thing we need, because if we give up on space travel it will only be a matter of time before humanity becomes extinct. All it would take would be one sufficiently-sized asteroid that we didn't see coming to do the job. We NEED to migrate to other planets in order to prevent this eventuality.

@DaySpring recreation in general isn't pointless. flying into the country you're gonna be on vacation in is already a huge drain on global ecology. space travel is 100 times that plus there's nothing to visit in space. there's litterally just nothing. i mean if you travel to space for the distances we can realisticly reach, you are not at all closer to anything that you see up there at night, cause shit is insanely far away.
