Have you ever reached a point in your life where you simply had no drive to drink or otherwise become inebriated?

Yes! It was the end of 2015 for me, just filed for divorce, so I was really looking myself in the mirror and looking at what I can improve in my life.
This area hit me. I wasn't a heavy drinker at any point, but when I chose to do so, I meant business.
But I looked at it and said, "wait a minute, do I seriously need to drink just to relax/have fun? I can't achieve this sober?"
So it was a personal challenge I issued myself, haven't purchased or had a drink since.
It's been fun ever since!
Pretty much my whole life. I have never liked being intoxicated. I don't like feeling buzzed, and I don't like the effect on my sleep and my libido. When I'm out I'm almost always driving, and I'm careful not to risk a DUI.
I do enjoy the taste of a good ale or whiskey, but I'm happy to drink them slowly.
I hear you and agree
LOOK. My goal is never to get drunk. I just like the taste of certain drinks. I haven't been tipsy in years! I don't like the feeling of being drunk, I just like the taste of the drink <3 BOTTOMS UP!
I can understand that.
I like beers and wine and spirits but I don’t like the feeling that comes with them anymore. I’d almost drink NA beers… but the empty calories would be ridiculous lol
I had the trouble of not liking the basic beer they would have in every bar, so I ordered heavier because of the taste. I want to go out with a friend and try some new ones now!
I do like thick dark lagers and stouts
Yep. I haven't had alcohol in 6 or 7 years. Some drinks sound good because I like their flavor, but I don't want to feel the alcohol.
Yep, crazy but that’s me too now

I used to quit when I become unemployed. It was one less thing I had to spend money on. drink a lot. By today's standards people would probably suggest I go to rehab. I m lucky I never got in an accident or got arrested. I had some close calls for sure. A year later after I found a job I really had no drive to go back to it. That was over 20 years ago. I would like to say that everything that was screwed up about my life got better but it really did not but I know I am better off.
I don’t drink cause it costs so much money, a couple of cocktails and a light snack will run me over $50.00.
That’s so true! Yeesh
I didn't know the need to become drunk was a thing for people other than alcoholics.
Even 1 drink doesn’t interest me anymore
yup. quality over quantity for me...
i still like a drink, but im not drinking to get drunk, im drinking because i appreciate the drink. a few good beers, whiskeys, wines and cocktails are my goto's
Yup, happened at like.. 22 for me. I’ve gotten “drunk” like 3-5 times since then. Still drink, but mostly socially and it’s for the taste. I’ll drink 2-3 drinks over like a 4 hour period. Camping is one of the few exceptions.
It's called "being a fucking responsible adult"
Something there seems to be fewer of year by year. These dipshits then complain about Gen Z and millennials for doing "worse".
Lol you can be responsible and drink
I certainly don't drink to become drunk these days, a lite buzz is fine but anything deyond that just isn't fun anymore.
Never liked drinking… I’m underage but still don’t have interest in it.
That point in my life came years ago. Probably 20 - 25 years ago.
I hardly ever drink, haven’t been drunk in over 20 years
no never, life is to good living to not remember it all...
No I just matured to point I drink for enjoyment. Now not to keep up with people.
Why would you have the drive to drink alcohol anyway?
I quit the booze it causes more problems
Truth
I've never really found it thrilling to drink
No desire for alcohol whatsover,,,
