I would visit Colombia. It seems to be a beautiful country and I could listen to people speaking Spanish all day.
Brazil would also be an option if it wasn't for a couple of things...
lol I though from your name that you WERE Brazilian.
@zeitgeist057 No, I'm not Lol
your name means "girl" in Portuguese. I mean, you probably know. My bff in Brazil, her name is Amina, which was funny because it was close.
to "a menina" which means "the girl"
@zeitgeist057 Yes it does, but you probably know that Brazil is not the only country where people speak Portuguese.
Yup, it's close Lol
Oh yeah, for sure. I went to Portugal for a month and LOVED it. Super fun country, from south to north, and so easy to travel the whole thing <3
@zeitgeist057 I'm glad you had a better experience than me.
Uruguay, simply because it is one of the safer ones to visit for women... some of those other countries and their gang rape buses aren't something I really want to be part of.
what is a gang rape bus? actually, nvm. I get the idea, I just never heard of any country where this was a thing.
@zeitgeist057 Oh it is a thing in India and various other countries. This is but one of many examples, as they actually caught the perps here, most get away.
www.usatoday.com/.../
Not just gang raped but it happened for over six hours, since most never even make the news. Can't even imagine how many locals don't even report it.
A gang rape bus is where it is (or appears to be) public transit so the victim unknowingly gets on the bus only to become trapped.

see shit like this is why I said "yes" on the "Have you lost your faith in humanity?" poll. Like wtf is wrong with people they come up with these things?

I've been to Brazil (X3), Peru, and Bolivia, so I chose Columbia.

I have a buddy from there, we met in Panama, so it would be great to visit him in his home country. Also, I think people from Columbia seem very friendly, women are gorgeous, and I wouldn't be averse to a little from-the-source purity cocaine. I've only had cocaine a couple of times in the USA, and a couple times in Central and South America, and I never want to have it again unless it's the pure stuff obtained close to the origin.

I would say Ecuador since I have a friend from there so it would be nice visiting her. Venezuela probably be the only other SA country I'd visit but I'd visit for other reasons since there's not really anyone for me to visit. I'm pretty neutral about the rest, except maybe Argentina (because no).
Well Venezuela’s political climate isn't so great right bow for visiting but maybe someday
the situation is pretty bad still with the unrest that's going on in the country. I'd still want to visit but yeah, it's one if those "better to be safe than sorry" situations if you dont want to be royally screwed there.
My wife has travelled to Latin America, Columbia twice, and Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and she loves it down there. She got mugged in Columbia last time on an island off Cartegena but luckily managed to run off while the guy she was with was having his phone etc taken and locals helped her out. Other than that someone tried to take her phone in Beunos Airies but they failed. In her 20+ years of travel those are the only times she has had this happen. But it hasn't put her off and she wants to go back and see more, including Central America. Hopefully I can do it with her next time.
Let’s see.. somewhere where I would want to visit in South America 🇺🇸 I don't know, maybe Arizona? Ohhhhhh wait, I see now! You mean.. okay, yeah I get it now! Never mind! The only place on the continent of S. America. That I really want to visit is Brazil! It just looks like a beautiful place, and a LOT of fun in Rio!
Super fun, make sure to try and go during Carnaval. Unless you hate people, lol. Rio is amazing, and Brazilians are so much fun to hang out with, very friendly and open people. I would be surprised if you didn't make a dozen friends or more inside a week.
Whichever one I'm least likely to get murdered in! 😅 I've heard certain places in South America are very violent for women. Perhaps Peru though.
I think Argentina is fine as well. Heard its the most like Europe of all the countries down there
I don't know about violent, but I think the misogyny we see everywhere can be more extreme in some places. Good to always keep your head on a swivel.
I was jist gonna tale you to lunch but just me lol
I made friends with a girl from Oz when we met in Egypt she asked to travel with me since she was worried and creeped out by the Egyptian guys. It's a different culture, genders are kept separated, and foreign women are seen as sex crazed sluts because they wear "revealing" clothing like shorts, skirts, and don't cover their faces. Basically having more than your eyeballs visible is slutwear.
I never want to visit the Southern Hemisphere. That whole place is cooky. And the toilets don't spin the right way.
Ok well colombia venezuela anything north of brazil
Are all still northern hemisphere. Would you visit any of those countries?
Given that most of the continent is unsafe to be in, I'd probably try Machu Picchu and the Galapagos and I don't think I'd be brave enough to go to most of the rest.
I defo want to sail the Galapagos; bucket list item!
I would like to say Brazil, but it's super dangerous these days, so my second choice would be Uruguay. They also have really nice beaches and such, but apparently it's more stable and lawful.
Out of those, I have only heard positive things about Chile. The other one, not on the list, would have been Costa Rica.
Thats Central America
Ouch !!! You stumped me on technicality.
Bolivia cause it's mentioned in 1 of my favorite movies, bolt
Columbia.. the coca! I'm j/k I want to go to the jungle. See the Amazon!
Hey, that’s what I picked too… Brazil! Great minds really do think alike, I see!
@CrazyGirl2 I want to see animals! And I've nvr been in the ocean.
id go to argentina
specifically patagonia
speak welsh with some patagonians
seems like fun
and while its not a country ill then go to the falklands, take it as my own and found the first sheep-ran nation
I have a friends from Ecuador and Guyana. Yes I’d love to see these beautiful countries and all of South America
Brazil is the coolest one and has beautiful places
Colombia and then Guyana after that because my friend’s parents are from that country.
Brazil used to be on my list but I'm not sure how safe it is anymore.
It's probably fine.
One I haven't been to. Okay then, Venezuela if the situation improved.
Brazil. Always wanted to go there after watching Rio :)
I've been always fascinated with the gauchos from Argentina.
Chile. Fairly safe and has a beautiful coastline.
Peru because it had the most historical stuff, or Brazil because it has the most sluts haha
I'd like to see Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina.
Brazil seems like more things to do there but never been to any of them
Peru.. I'm Asian and I heard they have a large Asian demographic there
Chile definitely, especially as a solo female traveler.
If you're gonna do that, go to Patagonia. The rest of Chile is kind of a dump
@KostasKouvalis sad. It didn’t used to be
@BeachMe Santiago wasn't too bad, except some parts, but the outskirts had a bunch of gypsie encampments. And Santiago had a homeless and graffiti problem. Valparaiso was basically a giant slum except like 2 neighborhoods and Viña was full of homelesses and drug users.
And yet Chileans think so highly of themselves and their country.
Granted, I was there a few years ago, but I don't think much has changed I heard Argentina has gotten bad too. But Patagonia is still nice. Basically the further south you go, the nicer it gets
@KostasKouvalis it’s been more than a few years since I’ve been there but Santiago remainder me of a small Madrid.
@KostasKouvalis you’re usually a fan of one or the other. Most people like Barcelona because of coast. I was always a Madrid fan …… still am but it isn’t what it used to be. It’s very westernized. There is a steak and shake and a Starbucks and KFC!!!
@BeachMe I never liked Madrid 'cuz it seemed too modern. Barcelona was too, but maybe not as much, and like you said at it's on the coast and by the mountains, and is hilly.
I honestly never wanted to go there. It was a spur of the moment decision, and I mainly just went so I could visit France and Andorra from there
I'd be tempted to see southern Chile
How southern?
Why southern? i mean
This is a quite wild spot on our planet, with lots of natural beauty.
Uhhh…not exactly paradise down there…
So? Its not paradise in most areas of the world
