+1 yYeah, I love trains. It’s like driving except you’re the passenger, and there’s no traffic. I’m actually taking a commuter rail train into the city for a concert today, since my car is in the shop. Went to NYC for a concert about a month ago too, and I drove into Connecticut about two hours from the city, and caught a commuter train from there. So much more convenient than dealing with NYC traffic, finding parking in Manhattan, etc. I’ve taken an Amtrak train into NYC a few times too. I love the scenery, especially when you get into The Bronx and uptown Manhattan, and there’s all kinds of cool graffiti work on the walls and bridges by the train tracks, plus when you pass by the huge public housing project tower complexes, you just get hit with that big city energy right before you’re about to de-board👍👍

I wanted to go knocking on random doors like “Yo, is Dipset home?”😂 21 Reply

Yes. When I worked in Thailand I often rode the train to Bangkok. Much safer than me driving as they drive on the opposite of what I'm accustomed to. Same situation when in the UK. The food was better on the Thai trains. It was nice to be able to watch the countryside versus highway traffic. I also rode the train occasionally in northeast US.

I've taken the train to and from LA a bunch of times. It's usually more enjoyable for me in the Summer because they keep the A/C blasting the whole time. 😄

Yep, I enjoy them too much sometimes, falling asleep and missing my stop. Gets you from happy to sheer sadness real quick.

+1 yOnly once. When i was a kid, they were moving one of those Steam engines from one place to its final resting place at a museum. I was on the train it was pulling. I Had a chance to talk to the conductor cause the way it was working was Steam engine in front, with its supply of wood/coal, and two diesel engines behind it followed by about 10 passenger cars. i asked if the steam engine was the one doing the pulling or if it was the diesel ones. He proudly told me that the diesel engines were off, and that they were only there to assist if a mechanical failure happened. Its amazing what some of those old steam engines could do, We averaged 50 miles per hour down the track with just the steam engine. I've been fascinated by trains ever since.
This was in the late 80's by the way. Never rode on a train since as its just as expensive as air travel and takes 10 times as long.10 Reply
+1 yWhen I was younger I was fascinating with the trains, enrolled on them several times in scouting. When I was in the military I was stationed in Europe and I had the opportunity to the truck that'll across Germany several times. I was able to see the countryside and the beauty as I traveled the train.

They have a nice train travel within the 1800's locomotive that goes through the canyons of Colorado. That is a beautiful ride. They also have a California zephyr the travels the western coast. Canada also has one that goes through the Canadian Rockies. Those are great experiences there.
329 opinions shared on Travel topic. I do not remember ever riding a train in the US. But I did ride trains several times in Italy and France. Those were definitely not pleasure rides, lol. A lot of standing and multiple stops. I imagine that if I was top take a trian there that was higher priced and a longer distance that the scenery from the comfort of a seat would be extraordinary!
10 ReplyOnly nice when the train is very empty and I can find a nice seat with little people arround me. Then I can enjoy the ride.
But I absolutely hate it to ride a train when it's busy. I would rather walk then instead or wait a couple of hours to grab a train on a time when it's not overcrowded10 Reply
+1 yYes! And Yes. It's very common to trains here in Sweden and now with all gas prices and inflation! People are using it more often. It is all over the country and it's always packed

The normal trains ar just trains you use to go fro a to b it's nothing special really but Switzerland has some really cool funiculars and rack railways and all kinds of things I enjoyed those. You can check out the Stoos funicular and the Pilatus rack railway on youtube if you're interested :)
I"ve travelled by rail many times! It's always been a fairly enjoyable experience. I prefer it to travelling by car.

+1 yDo you mean sexually or an actual train ( as in choo-choo). Guess it doesn't make any difference snce the answer to either is yes. Most trains as in railroads were thoughout Europe, their train systems are so much better than ours
