Thé best is thé only réal one so metropolitan French
but you should have showed with marseille accent notthern one Corsican they re much better accent / dialect
Really? I might do another one with accents from France proper
Or maybe you should. I maxed out my questions for the day anyways. But if you don't want to, I can do it.
The metropolitan language
Naturally you would say that. If you had to rank thar
Pretty much, at the expense of other people.
LOL, you really don't like Quebecois. I think their accents are kinda sexy. lol
LOL! I just realized I forgot Polynesian French. Then again, I can only post 5 videos
LOL. Honestly, I'm not surprised. I wonder which dialect they speak on St. Pierre and Miquelon
The islands in the Caribbean are technically closer 'cuz we have Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
OMG, I had to explain my classmate and professor in geography class one time why "France" was popping up on a map of South America. Apparently, I didn't explain clearly enough
We ARE. Trust me, we are! But British and Russians are just as bad if not worse. There was one British-Pakistani girl on THIS website who didn't know she lives in Europe
A lot of Americans don't even know all our states, and one kid in my high school class put Iraq in the middle of the United States and another guy didn't know our nation's capital.
One of my favorite was still in 7th grade when the school superintendent showed up. Some girl was like, "Is that the governor?" Some kid replied, "Yeah, that's Arnold Schwarzenegger"
Another favorite is the stupid Belgian grandma who was supposed to pick her grand son up at the train station and followed her GPS all the way to Croatia, even staying in a hotel and not realizing something isn't right.
And the two gays who accidently flew to Grenada island instead of Granada, Spain
It's not. Trust me, it's really not. Though I agree with the last part. Even on Jeopardy, contestants usually underperform in the Geography categories. And I never knew that foreigners don't learn about American history at school. Like I've had foreign friends who'd never heard of the Civil War or FDR. I was surprised.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8pnec4Hxps
It's not surprising to me. There are plenty more where that came from. Everyone knows Americans are bad at geography. And this may sound harsh, but I was amazed how stupid college students and professors are, even at university.
The Dumbest Professor I've Ever Met ↗
The U. S. is the dumbest and has the lowest standard of living of any developed country. I appreciate your flattery, but trust me dear, you don't live here. To put things into perspective, there was an ADD guy in my uni who basically had other people do his homework for him. I also received a D in a REQUIRED course and still obtained my degree.
High school and community college had stricter standards. I read some of the reviews of Yale professors and they weren't that good. I honestly don't understand how our universities are ranked number 1 in the world. Any bozo can get a degree here.
Comedian Bill Burr said it best. Ivy Leagues are hard to get into, but once you're there it's not much harder than any other school. The majority of professors have little to no knowledge of subject outside their field, which some will argue you shouldn't expect them to, but they had to take general ed, so I DO expect them to. And even in their field they don't know everything. I also heard professors in Europe are far more strict and don't care if you pass or fail. But at the same time in Eastern European countries, you can pay a bribe and get your degree
Anyways, I remember when I found a Provincial Occitan song online and could not figure out what language it was. I thought it was Catalan. I never knew they spoke other languages in France aside from French and Corsican, and Occitan sounds much closer to Spanish and Catalan.
I still think that Americans are not stupid.
Yes, in France, many regions have their own language, called "Patois". For example my grandfather speaks his regional language very well.
And if there are languages that seem closer to Spain or other countries, it is because there are many French regions that originally belonged to Spain, Italy, Germany etc. but were conquered by France.
Really? That's so kind of you, but I disagree. Maybe we can at least agree our politicians aren't so bright or well spoken.
You really should visit some time. I think American people would LOVE you, and you could change their perceptions of the French :p
But I will say, some of the things Europeans criticize about us are just stupid. Maybe we're not as stupid as we are ignorant and stubborn. Though I think our voters are stupid. They care more about where Caitlyn Jenner can take a shit, then they do about unemployment and crime.
I thought Patois was a Creole language
Yes, I know ;)
I certainly don't think we're the greatest country on earth though, far from it.
I saw an article about things foreigners LOVE about America. Americans LOVE praise. One American commented, "You see, America really IS the greatest country on earth." Someone replied to him, "Yeah, because having an IMAX movie theater is more important than having universal healthcare."
Yes I really mean it what I say. For the policies we agree. Well, I think that on a social level the USA could do much better. But in terms of power the USA is the first power in the world and by far, the first economic, military and technological power and the American culture shines everywhere in the world.
Well I would love to visit the USA one day, I hope I will have the opportunity. In fact the thing I would like to change in the American mind is the fact that they consider us as cowards because of the second world war lol
On social issues, YES
I don't know, our military lacks funding. I don't agree taking away from defense funding completely like some hippies want, as that's the best time to attack us. But I do believe the military should be strictly for defense of American sovereignty.
I have to disagree. I think technology, East Asia and even parts of Europe are most advanced. In terms of being a global and political power, I personally think China and Russia are more powerful. China couldn't handle the Hong Kong protests so they destroyed the entire world with one virus.
And Putin basically wins at everything he attempts. He had his way in Syria, he had his way in Venezuela, he had his way in Crimea and now he will most likely have his way in Ukraine.
True, but not everyone thinks that's a good thing.
Oh is THAT where that stereotype came from? LOL
There's also another stereotype that French people only bath once a week, and don't shave their armpits and pubic hair. And my dad is convinced that every French island allows nudity on the beaches, but apparently it's not even common anymore on mainland France.
Russia does not equal the USA, look at the Russian economy even before the sanctions, and the military power is based on an economy capable of supporting the military power, Russia is obliged to have old military equipment, although they are at the forefront in some specific field. We can see it in the situation in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, the Russians had logistic problems etc. If Russia wins in the end, it will be because of its demography.
China is the only real potential rival of the USA in all fields, however it is not yet at the level of the USA and it is not sure that it will ever get there.
For the second stereotype, it's because the Americans think that France didn't evolve at the level of hygiene since the Middle Ages 🤣 but personally I take two showers per day. For nudity, there are specific beaches for that
Maybe I'll put it this way, Putin is more influential when it comes to achieving a result, but I DO agree with you that this war with Ukraine made me realize how outdated their military equipment is. Putin seems a bit insecure and cowardly in my opinion. He fears NATO on his doorstep, because he loves being in control and being the big kid on the playground. But it's stupid because if he conquers Ukraine, he will have NATO on his doorstep anyways. And I was disappointed that he told the Russian people to stop criticizing Islam so they don't get blown up. Even Macron stood up against Islam when that teacher was beheaded. Putin is confusing. I always thought he was a hard leader, but I've lost a lot of respect for him in recent years He's starting to show his fears and insecurities.
For some reason everyone is afraid of China.
I know. LOL
When I was a child, my father made me believe that attractive French women just walk around naked on Guadeloupe. I was like, "That place sounds awesome!" To the point that I nicknamed it, "The Island of the Naked Women" LMAO
He would be very disappointed if he went there. LOL
For someone who loves France and the French as much as he does, he has a lot of misconceptions about the place and its people.
We completely agree about Putin, and what is incredible, a national feeling is being born in Ukraine thanks to Putin 🤣
Well in 30 years China has become very powerful, I think the US should never have allowed China to enter the wto.
Oh your father loves France, where does he get this feeling for France?
I'm kind of neutral, as I don't really like any of them to be completely honest. Ukraine isn't so innocent.
Yes, I agree! I think the US is stupid for maintaining trade relations with a country like China, especially since they aren't a political ally. The U. S. is very strange. There are a lot of Islamic countries that I would not consider our allies, but as you mentioned before, we ally ourselves with countries that suit our interests. In the case of the Middle East, oil. And in the case of China, cheap labor and a dumping ground for toxic waste. But I was surprised Trump stayed friends with Saudi.
Let's talk about something other than politics. LOL
I don't know. He always admired their politics and resistance to outside influence, as well as their modernization of their former and current colonies. And he liked their geography and the fact that they have so many islands all over the world. And he always had a thing for French women. I'll be completely honest, I used to think French women were overrated, but now I have a thing for them myself. But like everywhere, there are attractive French women and ugly French women. But my newly acquired taste for French women is very recent. I mean, my GAG crush is French, but I was never really interested in them in general, but now I am. :)
Having done quite a bit of traveling, I strongly disagree with the notion that people everywhere are the same, but to each their own.
RyanEC talks about you a lot. I tried talking to you before on your old account, but you were always so quiet.
I didn't say that people were the same everywhere, or if I did it's because my bad English doesn't help me lol.
Oh, Ryan is a very nice and respectful guy, it's always a pleasure to talk with him.
Oh really? I'm sorry, I don't remember the two of us trying to talk, my memory is failing me. I'm sorry about that.
No, your English is fine. That's just what I was gathering from the conversation, that the number of friendly people and assholes, and beautiful people and ugly people is equally balanced everywhere, but I don't believe this. Like you said people in most European countries are polite, from my personal experience, I beg to differ.
I commented on a few of your questions, but you never replied. LOL
Do you know Alice55?
It's okay. If you like me and Ryan, you'll probably like her

Oh, I have to tell you. I was watching some language videos on YouTube, and I was surprised how many French words we use in Polish language. A lot are spelled differently but sound exactly the same, and some are almost identical. I wonder if it's because of Napoleon.
Yeah, we were one of his only allies, though you guys lost Haiti because of us 😂
Fine😂
So, this was the other thing I tagged you in that you ignored. I wanna make another one, with more words, but let's see if you can crack this one for now.

Try this one too, then I'll send you the written version

W domu jest mebel
Mebel jest zrobiony z betonu
Na meblu jest kask, krawat i chronometr
I dokumenty na szantaż
I medycyna na grype
Medycyna smakuje jak ananas
Ale, powoduje koszmary
If not, I'll highlight the words that are the same.
I'll give you another hint, some of the words aren't in regular tense
Really? -_- Okay. Read the text, and if you still don't get it, I'll highlight the words that are the same
You got a few of them :)
W domu jest MEBEL
MEBEL jest zrobiony z BETONU
Na MEBLU jest KASK, KRAWAT i CHRONOMETR
I DOKUMENTY na SZANTAŻ
I MEDYCYNA na GRYPE
MEDYCYNA smakuje jak ANANAS
Ale, powoduje KOSZMARY
I will say, there is one word in the second recording I am shocked you didn't get. Maybe they don't eat it much there.
If it helps, the sentences aren't supposed to be logical
Okay, I'll give you the English translation and see if you can piece it together then...
W domu jest MEBEL
In a house is a FURNITURE
MEBEL jest zrobiony z BETONU
The FURNITURE is made out of CONCRETE
Na MEBLU jest KASK, KRAWAT i CHRONOMETR
On the FURNITURE is a HELMET, TIE and CHRONOMETER
I DOKUMENTY na SZANTAŻ
And DOCUMENTS for BLACKMAIL
I MEDYCYNA na GRYPE
And MEDICINE for FLU
MEDYCYNA smakuje jak ANANAS
The MEDICINE tastes like PINEAPPLE
Ale, powoduje KOSZMARY
But it causes NIGHTMARES
Really? Gimmie a sec...
I'll skip the ones you guessed
Mebel = MEUBLES
Beton = BÉTON
Kask = CASQUE
Krawat= CRAVATE
Grypa=GRIPPE
Ananas=ANANAS
Koszmar=CAUCHEMAR
See?
I don't know why, but when I heard the French versions of those words, I was able to make the connection instantly.
Someone said we probably just took them from Latin. There are a few that are similar to Spanish too, but it's more likely we got most of them especially the less common ones, during the Napoleon era.
Some words are harder to pick up on, like I only very recently made the connection between Pense and Pensar in Spanish.
But I was surprised, because French and Polish are completely unrelated. Our words for "library" and "beach" are also similar, and even some numbers if you think carefully, and there's most certainly more.
But I was reading an article on a church in Ax-les-Thermes and it was all in French, but as an English speaker I was able to understand geographic and historic terminology.
Sometimes I feel it's easier to make a connection when you see it written, though maybe with French not so much. Though if you at least know how French is supposed to be pronounced, you can make the connection. Though "chantage", "cravate" and "cauchemar" I probably wouldn't have gotten without hearing them
OMG, YES! That would be cool. Tomorrow is fine, I know it's late there. Just don't forget.
Oh, it's late for me. My sleep pattern is still thrown off from Italy and then daylight savings
Seriously? I've been falling asleep around 7 and waking up at 4. No, this isn't normal for me.
But good, I was concerned I was keeping you up.
Really? So you're like my mom, my ex-crush and the US President. You're a short sleeper. I don't know how people like that function. I don't function well when I'm not well rested.
What else do you wanna talk about? You wanna just chat in PM?

Metropolitan French. Quebecois french is the funniest, I love listening to them talk.
Everyone's dissing Quebecois. I guess it's the equivalent of Mexican Spanish
Je suppose que c'est plus sur ce que nous avons l'habitude d'entendre.
Metropolitan French is easier to understand, I suppose it is closer to what we learn in school.
Bonjour de Scandinavie ;)
i can not tell them apart, seeing as i dont speak french
English
I see. And what exactly does that sound like?
