Homelessness. Is this a good idea, and if not, why?

I was once talking to someone about homelessness and I do volunteer sometimes at a food bank. The problem with these is that not all homeless people can have access to going to these places for food and home goods. Then I thought about this idea a while back, and it was shot down by some people, who thought it was not a good idea for various reasons. Here it is.

I thought that being there are so many hotel chains, that homeless people (that is, the ones who don't have mental illness and who want to get off the streets), can actually work for these hotels. Each chain off a hotel in a city, or cities, can "give" a hotel to these people by training them to work at one, work there, and even sleep there if they could. This way, they would have jobs--training would require them knowing how to run the hotel--and maybe volunteers from the hotels could train them for free and be compensated by having free nights at hotels while traveling. This would get many people off the streets. Imagine if two hotel chains, each "gave" a hotel to the town so that they could train people to actually run the hotel. Bad idea, or not? What inspired me to think of this were pictures of LA... so many homeless. And where I live as well--you can see many by supermarkets and by highway entrances and exits. It's a shame.
