Also, how old are you and what country are you from?
I learned to drive on my uncle's old tractor. And then I learned to drive the hay truck. Try double-clutching with a seven-speed transmission, and a two-speed rear end. lol
So to get to full speed, you had to shift 14 times, and master double-clutching. As my dad would say: "I was busier than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest."

I'm 23, from the US and I learned to drive on a manual stick shift, and I've owned 3 sports cars, all with a manual. I love the driving experience of a manual transmission, it takes a bit of getting used to in my high heels and miniskirts, but I really enjoy the driving.
Yeah, I learned early. Also I took drivers ed in the summer. Part of the real road driving part of the class was he would drive with other classmates to pick us up from home to drive around. One day they brought the Sunfire with stick shift. He was like that with us, making sure we knew how to drive those, despite not being required.
I used to drive exclusively a manual stick shift, but my wife at the time could not do it, so I w]switched to automatic. Same situation with my current SO... she can't drive a stick, so I have an automatic.
I got the chance to drive a friend's stick a few months ago. It's like riding a bicycle, I had no problem driving it.

I still own several farm tractors and a 1978 Ford F-250 4x4 with a manual transmission with an added overdrive. Giving 8 speeds times two. Plus I sometimes drive a dump truck and well drilling rigs. All with manual transmissions.
I learned on the tractor before I was able to properly reach the pedal!I'm 48 from the United States. I could drive a stick if I had to (get to the hospital, etc.); I learned as part of learning to drive and have driven one occasionally since then. But all of my cars have been automatic.
No, growing up my parents only had automatic cars so that is what I learned on. It would have been nice to learn on a car with manual transmission, just to have that skill.
Yeah, that's how we usually drive here in the UK
I am 35 and live in the US. I learned on a manual trans car, and I own 2 in addition to one with an automatic. I have no trouble driving a stick shift and enjoy it.
Absolutely automatics aren't that prominent here in the UK but I do have one
