What do you think on the ban on beachwear in non beach areas in many parts of Europe?

Summer is approaching. Tourists from all over the world travel to Europe for a vacation. In many European countries it is now illegal to wear just swim shorts for a male or a bikini even if the bottoms are covered for females around non beach/pool areas. If a person breaks the law they will be fined.

European countries claim that this law was implemented to protect their culture/ for it not to be disrespected. Do you think to law is fair for tourists? Tourists bring lots of money to countries and it is hot is the summer so shouldn’t they be allowed to wear anything they feel comfortable wearing as long as they not naked? After all, tourists come and go and summer is only 3 months long so wouldn’t a country’s culture be protected if it by the locals and for the majority of the year?

People behave differently on holiday than they do at home. You wouldn't go to a supermarket in a pair of speeds or expect to be let in a restaurant wearing a bikini. It's not unusual for tourists to enter sacred sites with half their tits hanging out a bikini which is upsetting to locals.

You'll often see signs politely asking people to dress respectively in certain areas but many ignore them so it's not surprising they brought in enforceable laws to deal with all the Karens.

I am fine with both in most situations. I know i am not like most people but I think the human body is natural and there is nothing wrong in showing it.

A lot of countries already have laws like this, but I'd like to know which countries did this, because when I was in Greece, LOCALS were shopping in nothing but speedos and bikinis, so that IS their culture😂 From my personal experience and knowledge of Europe though, these sorts of laws are mainly only inforced in big cities.

Spain, Italy and Croatia have enforced this law in many cities small and big but not all.

Why am I not surprised? Those countries are going to shit. Hell, Spain, you used to be allowed to walk around naked in Barcelona, but they changed this to accommodate the Muslims. Probably the same thing that's happening here.

I live in the Netherlands and I have not heard anything about this. So when I want to be shirtless anywhere, I will just do that.

Think again about Spain; recently a judge destroyed the fines for someone who continuously walked naked on the streets outside. The man claimed there was no law against it, and the judge agreed. Only a few cities made it illegal in their local directives, but Spanish national law has nothing against it. It is not really socially acceptable (hence a cop who thought he could fine this guy), but it is legal to be naked in public.

Women definitely need to be forced to have more dignity. They should be forced to wear shorts like men.

But men still date women, respect women in short shorts so women will never change because they don’t need to with male approval.

Men will “date” a hoe… but only men with no other options will keep one long term.

Women who act like hoes while in a relationship are not partner material. If you need to sell yourself for male sexual attention , then you have no respect for your partner or yourself.

In the US private businesses like restaurants can require shirts and such. But I don't see a ban in public places being accepted.

And I doubt shorts are banned in cities in Europe.

I dont think that law applies on the beach area. Point of this law is basicly so people won't wander around in the city half naked or go to restaurant in bikinis or in shorts.

Ok found something. Three cities in spain, Thats different from what seems to mean most of Europe. Also the purpose stated by a mayor is not the actual ban on swimwear but to keep overcrowded tourist areas from flooding into local non tourist centers. In one case the "beach area" is nearly a whole harbor town-part with tourist attractions. Not sure about the other two cities that were mentioned there. The fines are high quite high though.
Do I support this: meh, if it works keeping tourist from local areas to let them life more quite, fine for me but I feel there should be better ways to do it. On the other hand, this at least makes it so they are at least wear more modest clothes, and it keeps them from closing these areas completly which would be another worse decision.
