Do you LISTEN to the PLANE SAFETY BRIEFING before departure?

Studies have shown that passengers who don't listen to the pre-flight safety briefing are 10 times more likely to be injured or die in the case of an incident (plane crash or emergency evacuation) Many passengers do not listen... they chat with each other, listen to music, talk on their phone etc.

So please be honest. Which kind of passenger are you? Do you listen to the safety briefing, or not?

I always listen. I've flown on all different kinds of planes for many different airlines. They are not all the same. Also, the location of my seat is often different, meaning my evacuation route (if needed) changes a lot. And there's a major difference between first, business and economy class seats and equipment. I've flown in them all.

If some people don't want to listen, that's their choice, but please be quiet so others can listen, and don't expect the listeners to save you should bad thing

sometimes listen and I check the card and look for escape exits.

I was just lecturing the kids about their responsibility to secure their water bottle missiles and computers if there is air turblence. they don't really understand until it happens and they'd let those missiles fly and kill someone, but it's a start.

I do. I've been flying since I was 4 and I always listen. Most of its the same, but it creates a muscle memory in case I have to evacuate or assist. I'm typically in an exit row.

And, too, sometimes the planes change. There's a difference between a 737-800 and the MAX. Or a 737 and and an Airbus A320.

You hit one the head. Same planes are different even within a manufacturer and even similar models.

Thanks @MicroJ... yeah, I've been on 737s with different mechanisms for the exit row hatches; different life raft stowage, and in one bizarre case the life jackets were slightly odd

I honestly didn't after my first flight. And my memory sucks so i dont remember how that stuff works

I actually listen to them everytime. I always listen to anything over an intercom though.

I try to, but others are usually making too much noise, and on my last flight (first one in GOBS of years), the PA system was cutting in and out. Just read the card in the seat back pocket, and (mentally) preplan your escape route by counting the rows to the exit row.

(passing note) Got hung up circling so long (flight path ended up looking like a drunken paper clip), so we were diverted to get a refill while the storms cleared at the final destination. (These regional feeder flights seldom carry a full load of fuel). Well, they held us on the tarmac along with others, kept the Aux Power Unit running so we'd have AC, then had to have a second refill before we took off for final destination. So, overall, about 5 hours for an 80 minute puddle-jumper flight. The one high point- we each got a second package of cookies on our final leg of this journey- and they really WERE pretty tasty.

Honestly, I do not and haven’t for years. Air travel is one of the safest modes of transportation so I trust I won’t be involved in an incident. However, before I find my seat I do spot the closest exits and note my position relative to them.

How many times do you have to listen to that same thing?
"please listen because all planes are different" now let me tell you the exact same thing you have been told many many times. Option one, the seats are floatation devices, option two there is a life preserver under your seat pull hard on the cord and if it doesn't inflate blow into the little tube.

Look for the nearest exit, they may be behind you

I listen for sure to give me the best chance of staying alive although some things are inevitable

What kind of studies? Did they ask the deceased whether they listened to the briefing? Was a seance performed?

Seriously though, I haven't flown in a while. If I did fly again I'd probably at least note the location of the exits. That's useful to know if the plane is on fire and the cabin fills with thick black smoke.

I fly the same plane every time. The doors will never move or be somewhere differently than the other hundred or so flights on the same aircraft. Sometimes you get a funny one. I'll listen then. Otherwise I'm just not that into it.

I do listen to the safety procedures on the aircraft before takeoff. It is always good to have a refresher. I don't fly that much anymore

No! I don't. I have traveled so many times plus i worked at the Stockholm/Arlanda Airport for 5 years so i know all of that and i even know all the pentry secrets 😉 and more.

I have not been on a plane sinc ebefore 9/11. I imagine the safety briefing takes al most as long as the flight itself.
