My SO and I often travel. Typically, we sit on opposite sides of the plane, not together. That allows each of us to do what we want during the flight. She often watches one movie while I watch another. On very long flights, I usually sleep while she doesn't. Plus, we each like a window seat... others don't bother us when they get up to use the restroom.
Once we get to our destination, we spend enough time together, so it's not important to be together on the flight.

before 2 flight, argued but like all lady reply here, she wanted together, and i caved, like the beast in film beauty and the beast, he gave in on everything important to him... desperate to break the beast curse. it could not last and didn't last.
i dumped her.
and later found out that was the suggestion of the organ in film beast crismas! better not to lose your choices.

Depends on the flight and who I'm with. Some of the smaller planes are 1-1 or 1-2-1 configuration, and I like having a window seat, so there's not always a seat beside me for someone to have. Of course not like the aisle is all that wide you can't talk or anything. I dated one woman who had no desire to sit up front because the tail of the plane "is safer in a crash" and I am not about to sit in cattle-class on a U. S. airline, so we didn't even bother making sure we were on the same plane sometimes.
We do by default because we booked the flights together. Plus it just works out because he likes Aisle and I like window. And we both enjoy the back because it means we are the last to board (since we are always late and do not see the point in rushing since our seats are pre booked and we do not care for the people standing waiting to sort their shit in the overhead) and usually the first ones out since we never have carry on stuff other than backpacks.
When that seatbelt sign gets turned off, we are halfway across the aisle. Our excuse, connecting flight.
I have not flown with an SO but we’ve flown to or for eachother. We’d honestly end up fckin on the plane if we did. And i dont mean in a bathroom. Nope right there in the cabin: Lift that arm rest up and throw a blanket over us

I don't think that I have commercially flown with my wife since 2007 when we went to Europe for 2 weeks. We likely sat together. However, we did take a short sightseeing flight in a seaplane from Long Lake in the Adirondacks in October 2010. I think we sat together in this 6-person plane, but not sure. Since 2007 and other than that short flight, all of our flights have been separate; either I flew or she flew.
If we was flying whit company i work whit her i take business class or first-class and we can have more privately
But if was another company. I always get tickets in business class
And one time i was have flight to Amsterdam i take my ex whit me in cookpilot because flight was full

Absolutely. Besides, typically, if we are flying together it is to be on vacation together. I honestly can't see saying to her, "Sweetheart, I can't wait to spend time with you on the beach, or at some romantic restaurant and spending every minute of our experience together, but in the meantime, would you sit over there?"

Most of the time. Sometimes when we're traveling together with friends, we'll switch seats a bit mid-flight to talk to different people. Yet we always reserve seats next to each other if possible.
Depends. We live in Europe so we always choose cheap flights and we can't always pick out the seats 😅 Which is alright, but when we can, we sit together, usually me by the window and him in the middle seat!
We both prefer the aisle seat so we book the seats next to each other with the walking path in between. Like you said, both watch different things and are occupied with sleeping/eating at different times. The down side of this, especially on long haul flights is that sometimes they tend to switch seats due to fully booked flight and we end up sitting further away from one and another...
We haven't traveled by plane yet, but when I would go with family, we would always try to be grouped up. Is the splitting up a preference of you two?

Not always. We had a business class in delta one in the 1-2-1 config and there was no 2s available so we just were forward and backwards, didn't matter much since we each slept that night.
Yup. It's perfect because she's really small and it gives me more space. I hate having an open seat next to me and watching a 300lb person board the plane.
Yes. That way we can take turns looking out the window, share our snacks, and sleep against each other.
Definitely. We have to wrangle our son, so one of us takes the window, he's in the middle and then the other on the aisle.
When I have a girlfriend, I do. I feel that's kinda... cold to not sit together. Also, we can still do different things beside each other.
