Have you ever been camping in a storm?

A couple times but nothing really that bad the worst time was
A friend of mine bought a boat and he said come on out to the lake bring your boat and let's go camping let's just camp out for the weekend I told him I couldn't but I wanted to come out there and check out his boat
When I got there we took off in it and we got halfway out in the middle of the lake and the boat broke down the wind started coming up thank God because he had no ores or paddles it started getting dark but we did reach the other side of the lake
We had seen some people camping probably about a half mile from where we landed so we wouldn't talk to them to see if they had a boat to tow us back they didn't but they said they would take my friend around to the other side of the lake so he can get his truck and trailer
Some girl and I decided to stay there well we had to stay there to keep an eye on the boat now it was dark it was cold and it started to rain we had no protection no nothing so we buried each other in the sand we had some towels to cover our face but thank God it was hot that day because the sand kept us warm all night well as warm is it could and even though it was raining the sands stayed warm is a wet warm warm and that makes sense but the wind blew like crazy it was actually kind of cold the thing got to be buried ourselves in the sand otherwise we would have froze
Yes, in the Army. We had no problems with the tents as they were strong tents with large wooden stakes pounded into the ground by strong men.
Now drinking your coffee in the torrential rain watching it fill itself up because you are then so furiously trying to eat whats’s on your plate while it turns into a lake and liquifying or drowning what was on it is another story.
You see you had to go to the Mess Truck which has a tent siding off of the side of it but then you had to move out once you got your meal. Then the fun of trying to eat and drink quickly happened while you stood in a complete downpour. I’ll never forget the image of my plate or how my cup refilled itself when it had been half empty just a moment before. The only thing worse was a bitter cold winter night but thats another story.
Went camping at the lake when a tornado touched down on the opposite side... I guess a brush with death makes you appreciate life because we had a fun night
No. Who'd be stupid enough to camp in a storm
People who are too stupid to check weather forecasts before turning up to a camp site

I have been camping when it was raining out but there was not much wind. We were warm and dry in the tent.
Many times & there was one time my friends & I had to abandon all of our stuff & get the hell out of there quickly. The wind started picking up, lightning danced across the sky & it was so bright I thought it as day. The storm moved closer & closer, lightning, thunder, rain & hail & all hell broke lose. We made it out safe.
Yes, I have been camping in a pretty heavy storm, but I choose the campsite well (at the top of a small rise) and I put up a tarp to shelter the top and side so we could sit near the fire without getting very wet from the wind and rain.
That wouldn't work if you didn't have trees - I don't know how people camp out in the open - but I always go camping in a forest somewhere.
Back in college, a friend and I went camping. In the middle of the night, it started storming really bad. We secured our tent and hand dug trenches to direct the davy rain water around, not through, our tent. It was an interesting experience, digging in the dirt with a small shovel while thunder and lightning was all around us... and oh that very heavy rain. We were successful, though, to save our tent, and keep our things dry.
Twice only.
The first time the tent wasn't waterproof - and I ended up chatting with strangers in the toilet building.
The second time my little son and me enjoyed watching the lightnings striking in a safe enough (short enough as well) distance.
Yes, but I always had a good tent.
I've pretty much always exclusively used Eureka tents and have never had an issue.
Others have failed, bent, collapsed, but mine was still standing.
They aren't cheap, but we'll worth it and last a long time.
I motorcycle tour and have the 4 person.
Weight isn't an issues and it doesn't take up much more room than the 2 person tent when packing.
Yeah but I didn't have a tent, just the lean-to I'd built. Unfortunately the way the wind was blowing was into the opening, so I was getting misted all night. Kept the fire going though so that helped.
Yes but a thunderstorm not a wind storm. The tent flooded but luckily i was down the end that did not floods
I was camping once when 25 to 30 mph wind hit. I don't know how but our tent held up.
I have. A front was going to move in. We went anyways bc no rain predicted just a little wind and temp drop. But rain did develop. Wasn't bad. Just a lot of lightning and thunder mainly.
Yeah three weeks ago a thunder storm hit our camp. It was kinda fun
Yes, I was in a trailer but I watched many tents and awnings get shredded and blown away.
Yes, but it was just rain, no heavy wind.
