Why have an airline if you think being average is fine?
Singapore Airlines serves a wealthy country, and only serves the top of the market. They don't care that most people in Singapore can't afford to fly - they are only interested in the relatively wealthy people who can. And foreigners who fly on that airline are those who can afford to pay the higher prices for their tickets.
The reason the US doesn't have those kinds of airliners is because the people who would normally fly on that kind of airline in the US have a better option: they can book their own private plane, with even more luxury, and they don't have to share it with strangers, and they don't have to fly on someone else's schedule. They can literally drive right up to the plane, have their luggage loaded in, their car valet parked, and walk right up the stairs, and they'll be in the air 5 minutes later. And if they're 30 minutes late, their plane will sit and wait for them.
Private planes gobbled up the high-end market in the US, so there just isn't enough market left over for a luxury public airline. Instead, the US has middle-class airlines, and far more people (as an overall percentage of the population) can afford to fly.
It’s a strategy for business about quality vs profit margin. The higher end airlines rely on being able to charge a premium price for higher costs and better service. However an average airline will compete with others based on lower prices and rely on quality to make money. Both are valid strategies as with many industries.
I find all airlines in the United States to be average. While ANA, Singapore, and Emirates are on a different level. If one of these airlines start dominate the USA market, it is game over for United, Delta, American, Southwest, etc People judge with their eyes
Unless those airlines can compete with the prices delta charges I can’t see them grabbing all the market share. A teenager wanting to travel home for Thanksgiving is willing to pay dirt cheap prices and be shoved in the aisle if that means they can afford a ticket; whereas a high end sales director may be willing to pay up for first class to sleep or work on the plane.
McDonald’s and kfc are case studies for international companies who offer average (sometimes less than average) quality but at a price point the market is willing to pay.
airlines in the U. S. were deregulated in the 1980s so it doesn't matter whether they do any niceties, they still make the same amount of money. airlines in Europe and Asia have to compete for business so they're much nicer, the way U. S. airlines were in the olden days
They should go back being regulated. They looked much better

Most people book flights based on price. The cheaper the better. As a result they get to ride in a flying cattle car with surly flight attendants, screaming kids and overhead compartments filled to exploding.
Different products for different target audiences with different bank account numbers :)
American Airlines is a major airline in the United States, but they are not on the same level as ANA or Singapore
I want to dm you
I think it depends on your primary objective. Do you want to run a good airline or do you just want to make money?
If I have my own airline, I want to be seen as the best. I am very competitive and want to hurt the competition. It is just like sports!!
Singapore Airlines happens to be my goto airline in X-plane
Because that’s what customers want
Cost probably
... that's is operating costs due to their country. Like I fly Emirates when I can
