If a Marine is on standby, can they still come home for the holidays?

If a soldier (Marine) is on standby, can they still come home for the holidays? He’s not deployed, but with everything going on with the war overseas, does he HAVE to stay on base?

I don't think so. The military never gives holidays off.

Well I was just wondering because he always seems to come home around Thanksgiving but this year could be different due to the war overseas? I don't know

That makes sense. Even though his contract will be up this month, is there a possibility that they would have to keep him/extend the contract due to all the uncertainty?
