It's a catch all term for various shelters with open sides in a park. You can also get them on sports grounds such as cricket pavilions. Smaller ones in the UK like in the picture are often called bandstands but you'll rarely see a band in them. "The Pavilion" is also a common name for theatres, concert halls etc across the uk.

Yeah and we have loads, some are famous and have Pavillion in their name, others are just a place in a park
