Would you go on vacation if you were terrified of airplanes?

I would say my terror on airplane rides could be as serious as the terror of a soldier being held at gun point, but I still like to go on vacation each year, and sometimes more than once. A guy from church asked me why I go on vacation if I'm so scared of airplane rides and my response was, I think the fear of being on an airplane is worth the happiness of going on vacation for a few weeks.

I personally don't put up with it if I don't have to (Flying hurts me immensely during the landing, so its not so much a fear of flying as it is knowing I will be in severe pain), but in my case vacations by boat or car are available. The only thing that was making me consider flying was my long distance relationship, since I obviously did want to meet up with her (Due to the lockdown restrictions we ended up meeting in a different country, that one I did visit by boat instead of a plane).

Sure. There's always cars, trains, buses and going on cruises.
Ex military. Flown a lot. Including choppers.

I do not fly anymore. Not because I am afraid but because I do not want to deal with the long lines and cavity searches. Plus airplanes today are like cattle cars. The airlines treat people like they have a captive audience which they do. I used to fly quite a bit but now I take a hard pass. I always drive if I travel someplace.
