Are you afraid of Airplanes?

I used to FLY a lot. I’m Ecuadorian born and raised. Moved to Florida at 6. I have since flown back and fourth just a couple times ever since. I was never afraid of flying. I even went on a school trip from Ecuador to Galápagos Islands. HOWEVER AS TIME WENT ON… AND I REALIZED THAT WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FLYING THAT IT isn't NATURAL.. the fear of flying and falling set in.

I was offered a business trip in Texas one time. So I had to fly from Florida to Texas. I agreed and when the plane was taking off, the airplane made the craziest sounds… and somehow the Fear of Dying from an accident was real.

Ever since , I’m not fond of Flying and Airplanes.

A year later my family begged me to go to Dubai with them on a 10-hour flight and a second flight from Turkey to Dubai. And my heart sunk. I agreed after months to join in. The second plane that was landing on Dubai was making some of the worst sounds I’ve ever heard and the Pilot would constantly tell everyone to stay seated because they’re trying to FIX something. :( My heart started racing that even my smartwatch alerted me. After that I promised to never fly.

And people will always say that Flying is safer than Driving. But if an airplane falls and crashes.. you're DONE. In a car you can still somehow survive.

Actually the statistics are still in favour of flying. You can survive a car crash, but you're much more likely to die in one than you are in a plane crash. Those figures don't lie.

I love flying, always have. Planes make noises, that doesn't bother me. They're getting battered with incredible forces so it's natural things will move just like they're designed to and when things move they make noise. It's safe, and it's quick. Plus the ability to visit other countries with little effort is just too good to pass up. I pity people who have never traveled abroad, there's a whole world out there to see.

Nope, but then I only ever fly either long haul or within Europe/N. America. I could imagine it might be a little different in certain Third World and former Soviet countries, where some of the planes they fly are antiques, and attitudes to health and safety are not quite the same either (although I do regularly fly on a Twin Otter from the '70s).
One day, I'd like to buy a paramotor :)

Unless I was flying to and from an overseas location or possible across the country, I don't fly because of the long waits, stupid government regulations, and abuse by homeland security thugs have made flying customer unfriendly.

I'm afraid of planes. In '15 I flew from Chicago to Dallas to El Paso, TX and then crossed the border to Juarez. Then flew to Guanajuato. I spent a month there and on the way back we took an international flight straight to Chicago. I have always been afraid of heights and planes. I went to Mexico City and the elevation freaked me out!

No, I'm not afraid of airplanes or flying. I wanted to become a fighter pilot, but that didn't happen.

As other have mentioned, my issue with air travel is not the flight itself, but irritating fellow passengers, smaller and smaller seats, and fewer services.

I have to take planes to get some clients so it's part of the job. I been to Dubai before and I think that was still my longest ever flight at 16-hours, and I've flown business class before where you get the flat bed and can sleep like a baby. Those flights are usually on widebodies, they obviously make a lot of noise on landing depending on how rough they hit it since it's a heavy load even with less fuel. Love flying though.

I do not have a phobia about airplanes but I have an understanding of some of the things that can go wrong. I fly very rarely and when I do, I am very tense during takeoffs and landings.

If I hated flying I'd be done for lol I study abroad so I have to fly a lot, my total flight hours are like 21hrs minus the layovers. So I've flown quite a bit but I still feel the excitement of taking off and landing like I'm flying for the first time, every time.

No i am not farthest i been is Georgia and flown out too and Arizona and Utah and Colorado. But i always enjoyed plane ride but if im going as far as dubai i would finf a way to knock myself out the whole flight so if i die i die in my sleep lol

No. I’ve never had a hard time on planes. Sometimes if I think about the fact that we’re thousands of feet in the air or above the ocean, I’ll freak myself out a little bit. But I try not to think about it.

No, I have not flown since 9/11 but it is not because I an afraid, I just hate the long waits and cavity searches. Now all the BS with masks and all the Karens have really soured me on it. I want to go to Florida next winter but I plan on driving.

Nah if you look up plane crash statistics, you'd see a whole list of common shit we do that is more of a threat to our lives than potential plane crashes.

Sure but like I said, the odds of that even happening are so slim that you're far more likely to die from something random like falling down the stairs. Sure you can survive a fall down the stairs but that doesn't change the fact that breaking your neck doing so is more common than a plane crashing.

I am. I have no regrets of travelling, but everytime I travel I am scared shitless during the take off. Those instructions. JUST IN CASE YOU DIE. That stresses me out. Flying over open water. God no.

If you fly over open water and the plane falls. at least it falls on WATER. That means it lands on something that can help it floating.
On LAND the plane blows up.

No. flying is the safest means of transportation. It's even safer than walking.
