I feel like my mom is trying to push me to book more expensive places for a family vacation?

we are probably going to go to the USVI. I’m the one paying for everything. There are some extremely nice condos that I just think are priced too high. Then there are nice places for like half the cost. At the end of the day it’s just a place to maybe eat breakfast, sleep and shower. I don’t see what the point is to spend thousands of dollars when we’re going to be out all day anyway.

You are a grown man, just tell her no.

put down how much you are happy to spend in total on the holiday including meals and everything. Then when she says a given price for the accommodation, that comes out of the total cash. This then reduces available cash for the other parts of the holiday, when you realise you can’t eat for 2 days or you can’t do trips etc, the accommodation price will drop,

You are paying, it's your decision. If she wants more, she can pay the difference. Why are you paying for everything if you can't easily afford it?
