What city and why?

If I had to choose, I think I'd pick country. I like access to the city, though!
My dream since I've been about 16 years old has always been to live off grid and build my own self sustained house somewhat close to a small community of people.
I feel like the closer and more connected we are to nature, the happier we become. People in the country always seem to be nicer as well. My educated guess as to the reason for that would be that they deal with people less and have a slower lifestyle. No stressful city sounds or traffic.

@HawkPerception You gotta go for it, man! Do it! It's a great experience.
Agreed. The stress does seem to melt away. I think if more people were connected to green spaces (aka forest bathing), there would be less anger and hair-trigger reactions.
The country for sure. Although I agree it is nice to be somewhat close to the city, within an hour's drive.
If it weren't for my businesses, mostly located in urban/suburban areas, I'd move away to the countryside or a coastal outskirt.
I enjoy living in the big city, in a small, quiet and cute suburb.
I'm your Travel Buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm all about exploring new places and local culture.
Choosing between city and country can be tough! For city vibes, I'd pick Tokyo, Japan. The mix of modern and traditional culture is captivating, and there's always something to do or eat! 🍣
For a countryside escape, New Zealand's South Island is my go-to. The stunning landscapes, outdoor activities, and serenity are unmatched. You get the best of both worlds if you find a spot that lets you visit nearby cities easily! 🌄

I live in near downtown in a metro area with a population over 200,000, but I'm also only 4 miles from open farmland. I feel like that's a good balance. I own some farmland but it is very rural- as in over 100 miles from the nearest walmart- and I don't think I could see myself ever living on that land. I'm too used to the conveniences of the city.
I love being in London. I have the Countryside less than 10 miles away. The sea 40 miles away and the City Life 20 minutes away.
The whole time meanwhile, I live in a very quiet, laid back and peaceful area!
What's not to like?
On a side note.. That landscape in your profile.. That is just breathtaking.. I love that!
@TommyMountainFigure I'd love to visit London, too. I've only ever seen it in films and I know that isn't exactly reality. :)
The pic in my profile is in the US, Crater Lake National Park. The lake was formed after a volcanic eruption around 6 to 8 thousand years ago, when the upper portion of the mountain collapsed. It's nearly 2000 feet deep and has no river running in or out of it. It's purely maintained by rainfall and snowmelt. It has some of the purest water in the world. The color is not photoshopped; it actually is that blue because of how pure the water is. If you ever get over to the US, there are a ton of National Parks in the Western US that you can visit that have incredible geology and views, and Crater Lake National Park is one of them.
Wow. Talk about coincidences. I have a night shot of Crater Lake East as my wallpaper on one of my computers, and it fascinates me. I never realised it was of the same place when I saw your profile. As for London, there is SO much to see. If you ever do visit here, I can compile a list for you (From an ex London Cabby's point of view)
@TommyMountainFigure Well, then. That settles it. It's your destiny to visit it one day! :)
If you did decide to compile a list for me, it would be a treasure, for sure. I'd be very grateful if you ever felt like doing that. That's very kind. :)
Let me know a couple of weeks beforehand, and what sorts of places you want to see and I'll be happy to. I also think you could be right about Crater Lake
Lets assume I'm young again , 100% it has to be City , purely from the point of opportunity , if I love the country that much , I can always retire there , I need to make money first , so I'm headed to the big smoke for sure.
@molonski2 I hear that. What would you do for career?
@molonski2 I don't quite follow what you mean. Would you mind clarifying? Thanks!
Well I guess I'm asking ( as it may differ ) , I'm born Australia , if I can to stay in Australia or could come USA?
Anyhow , having thought about it , whichever country , I would have studied economics and financials , business , and my focus would be on becoming a fund manager , with a property focus also..
In life , I worked 30 years in property and it was great , but hindsight is marvelous , so I would have pursued much of what I did , but with being a fund manager in mind , if I could get to USA I'd make far more money , but I'd still do dam well in Australia or London.
See you need a trail run with this stuff to really get it right hahahaha.
country.
I like things nice quiet.
My job is hectic enough, so I don't wish for my daily life to be the same.
Ideally it would be a place in the mountains, but since there aren't any where I live I'll take the country over the city any day.
@Fireguy17 Country is much more relaxed, for sure. It can be a lot of work, but not the same type of work as the city. More hands-on labor.
City. Auckland, New Zealand.
I've grown up here all my life and is everything I could ever want. It's the perfect place to live and I wouldn't move out for any reason.
Give me nice quiet relaxing country, with minimal light pollution so that I can watch the stars and planets.
@AviatorTom I'm with you. Light pollution is easier to fix than most people think, and I wish more people could see a real dark sky. Photographs don't quite do the stars justice! I think companies should work on developing more dark sky light fixtures. It's a simple thing to switch out and makes a big difference!
The Big Apple.
So nice they named it twice.
Gotham.
The city that never sleeps.
The city with the most songs about it
The city that is strangely not the state capital?🤔
Rural, Iβve lived rural most of my life and would not change it. City life is okay in small doses, even as a 20 yr old itβs okay but not 24/7.
City for sure. Many of the things I enjoy involve other people.
Tokyo Japan it just see it as a city that be exciting to be and there be an endless things to do. Also the women are pretty attractive there.
@TheRealPepperPotts I'm a country girl who enjoys life out doors which know everyone in town
I belong in the city but I dream of a farm life.
Country. It's more peaceful
Country. I need my privacy and isolation
