Should I review/report a very nice yet very irresponsible Lyft driver?

I got a ride home last evening after getting in from a very late flight (that was delayed).

Nowadays I try to take the bus most the way home if I can (saves money) given Uber/Lyft rates have skyrocketed. But last evening it was so late I had no choice but to order a Lyft (Uber was surging and outrageous).

Anyway I noticed there have been more and more foreign immigrant drivers lately taking rides from my airport. I once had a driver who didn’t even speak English. Fortunately I speak basic Spanish and I was able to communicate directions when he got close to my neighborhood (GPS always throws drivers off when they get close to my place).

However last evening I got a middle aged woman from Indonesia as my Lyft driver. She spoke basic English and was pleasant. But she was very uncomfortable with her driving skills. She was clutching the steering wheel and tense the entire time. She was making me very nervous. Normally I get in conversations with drivers but i kept that to a minimal so she would focus on the road.

She didn’t know how to accelerate or brake properly. She was drifting into highway lanes. At one point she got off at the wrong highway exit ramp but then she got back on. When she got close to my neighborhood she was drifting into bike lanes on my neighborhood street. She almost drove into a median that separates inbound and outbound traffic in my neighborhood.

Fortunately it was midnight and nobody was out but still it bothered me. She either has bad night time vision and/or she wasn’t raised with good driving skills being a foreigner. Either way she shouldn’t be driving. I get it she’s trying to make a living but still it was tense.

I feel bad reporting a otherwise nice Lyft/Uber driver. But I could see her getting into an accident at some point.

If she does, it'll be someone else's problem. Maybe someone else will report her. If she was a bitch I might feel differently, but it's pretty messed to ruin her career and take away what may be her only source of income, if she was nice to you. I've had dangerous drivers. There was even one cabbie in my town who drove like a maniac, but we never reported him.

Also, you never know if you might end up getting her again in the future so better not burn any bridges. But if you can, just avoid her again, but there's no need to get her in trouble and ruin her life.

I did “semi” report her to Lyft. I didn’t go into detail about what happened. But I selected an option that there was an issue by the way she drove. But it’s not like I reached out to Lyft directly with a detailed incident report. She most likely will be allowed to keep driving.

She is very high risk of getting in an accident. It’s not just a her problem but a risk to her passengers and other drivers. It’s a safety problem. It’s a tough call because I know she needs to make a living but still she has duty to be a responsible driver and she was far form it last evening.

Yeah this is about safety. I feel bad because she might lose a job opportunity. But still that was the most tense Uber/Lyft ride I’ve ever taken and I’ve taken hundreds of rides.
