Have you ever had to hitchhike?

I used to hitchhike to work every day after I graduated high school. I hitchhiked a lot. That is how I got the Exitseven name.
Yeah, quite a few times, especially when I was young.
@exitseven. I imagine you're right.
I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm a traveler who loves exploring different places and cultures. Hitchhiking can be an exciting adventure for some, but it's essential to prioritize safety. I have occasionally relied on hitchhiking during remote travels where transportation options were limited. 🚗 It's all about being cautious, trusting your instincts, and choosing safe spots to hitchhike. Always have a backup plan, like knowing the local language or having the means to contact someone if needed. Whether you're hitchhiking or just traveling, staying safe and open-minded is key to a great journey! 🗺️

Used to do it all the time as a teenager. Back then it was common. I hitchhiked all over the country. But it wasn't without some bad stories.
Had two bad experiences including one where I had to jump out of a moving car.
I hitchhiked to see my girlfriend in another state one time, got there at about 2:00 a. m. and camped out on a farm field covered with snow.
I waited until the sun came up to knock on her door and then I got a really bad cold and had to stay in bed for 3 days while her mother took care of me. 🤣🤣🤣
Ahhh the good old days...
When I played semipro football, I had to hitchhike to a game once when my car was in the shop over a weekend. This was probably the late 00s, so it was already in this more modern era where a lot of people won’t pick anyone up. I wore most of my uniform, lmao, just had my helmet, shoulder pads, and cleats in a bag.
Thought it would be hit or miss, had a sign saying “Help me get to my game”, and fortunately, I think people were like “ok, an axe murderer wouldn’t go to these lengths”😂
So someone picked me up right before the highway, I think I took a local bus from home to there, then hitched the final leg of the way. Didn’t take too long to get a ride, I was surprised.
I had a pretty good game too, haha, I was like “man, should I hitch every game now?”😂
Yes I used to live like 15 miles out of town and one day I had to get into town so I had to hitchhike
There is a man and a lady and two kids that picked me up and about 5 miles from my house there's some geothermal
As we were going through the hot springs the little boy plugged his nose and said Dad I think this guy just pooped his pants I almost died it was so funny the little girl says he did he did
As I was shaking my head no I looked in the river and mirror and the man was looking at me like did you I couldn't stop laughing
I explained no it's the geothermal Hot springsre-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft
Yes. 2 different times when I was a kid. Once was when we were fishing and our boat motor broke. So we had to float down river till we came to a bridge overpass. And then we climbed up the bank. Which sucked because the was a ton of "itchweed" we had to walk through. We got to the overpass and had to hitchhike back to our vehicle and boat trailer.
The other time is less vivid in my mind. I do remember I was older and we ran out of gas on our way home from somewhere and had to hitchhike to the nearest gas station.
no but I always pick up a female if she's hitching, freaks me out a girl has balls to to that but alas sometimes they're just hookers which is fine bi me
Nah, too risky, next thing you know your next to a a man in a gimp suit and someone is dragging you into a room to plow you from behind until somebody saves you with a samurai swordre-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft
I did it a couple times as a youngster. I had a friend doing that to cross entire Bielorussia lately lol. But he's adventurous, as well as completely disorganized.
Ah, those Russians...
Never had to hitchhike before; the one opportunity I did have (the car I was a passenger in ran out of gas in Arizona) we were traveling in a group so one of the other cars picked us up and took us to a gas station.
Oh yeah , in the old days , all the time , not in a long while though , very common back in the day. In Queensland I did it everyday with a surfboard , and I had a car.
Thankfully, no; I doubt anyone would stop for what appears to be a lumberjack hobo yeti. Unless, that is, they'd picked up ANOTHER crazy hitchhiker and wanted to make us fight.
Many times when I was younger and in different countries around the world, which is a challenge when you don't speak the language.
this isn't the 1970s
no serial killer gonna get me
Thankfully not. That would be terrifying to do these days.
Yup … still walked the entire way. Granted, 3am stuck on the side of the road with no cell service in the area … I knew chances were zero someone was going to stop.
Nope I rather walk then try hitchhiking tho been picked up a few times by people I know lol
No, i have never had to do it. But, i would do it for fun one day
A couple times but I don't think I ever got picked up because of it.
Yes 👍🏻 with my old man of course - decades ago 🚗
Yes when I was a teenager, the van broke down me and my dad tried it for five minutes without success and we eventually made a phone call
I was never "forced" to but i did an entire hitchhiking trip/vacation before.
I’ve picked up someone before. Great experience
A few times but I never asked people just offered, and I always knew them. (Neighbors or people I went to school with)
When I was younger and I also pick up many
These days you get killed doing rhat
I did it one time.
once was all I had to do it. Guy was pretty cool
I used to hitchhike back in my youth.
Not all by myself.
No, that would be terrifying
I have a few times when I was younger
I never had to, but I have done it before.
As a kid it was pretty common for me to walk like 5 miles to a friends house or to go do something with friends and then 5 miles back later that night. That was like an every day thing. I had a bike so if it was just me and a single friend I'd toe them on the handle bars, but if there was a lot of us and not enough bikes we'd walk. Sometimes that lead to hitch hiking.
*tow
More often than not though we just rucked it out.
Never done that
Tried but we never got an offer.
No I haven't.
Don't think I ever would try, either, even if I really needed to.
I’ve never actually done that
Never have as it's dangerous.
From Madera to Merced then hopped train
Yes but in Greece walking up from the beach.
Nope never.
Nope, never had, never would.
