If so, how was your experience?
I've had both those experience I was hitchhiking one time and this family picked me up in a station wagon and I had to get in the back seat with the two kids and I was heading into town and you have to pass these Hot Springs that smells like stinky gas and as we passed them the little boy says that we should not have picked him up he just farted and he stinks and I start laughing and I said no no no it's not me it's the hot springs and his parents knew what it was they started laughing too cuz they can see my red face
Another experience was I just got off work I was working out of town 20 miles out of town and I was going home and I pulled into the store and got something as I was getting ready to drive away there was a lady that ran to the corner and she stuck her thumb out really quick and she's saying please please so I pulled over told her to get in where were you going she was taking so much she was in argument with her husband or boyfriend and he had beat her up many times before and she just wanted to get away so I ended up taking her to a place where I thought he would not find her cuz she said she wanted to get a hotel room but she did not know where to go because he's found her before so I took her there and we talked for a while and blah blah blah but anyway yeah that was a good experience too

I did this many times when I was younger. I went to school in SF and my family and many friends lived in LA, I had no car, so I hitchhiked. I had many interesting experiences, a few that were terrifying, and more than a few great ones.
One great experience was when I was on my way back from LA to SF, and I decided to take Highway 1 which runs along the coast through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Some people in a BIG motorhome stopped to pick me up in Santa Barbara and promised to take me all the way. I got in, and there were several people, including a guy with a lot of weed, a very attractive girl, and several other people. The guy with the weed was passing the pipe around and I got higher than hell very quickly. The attractive girl (also stoned) and I started making out, and the guy driving saw this in the mirror, and turned, and said "there is a bed in the back if you two want to use it". We did; you can figure out what happened from there.
Weed and sex and a great girl made it a trip to remember!
Yup, I was with my 2 friends that time. A car stopped and the guy offered us ride to a terminal, thankfully, we got off safely lol. But I wouldn't try to ride alone.. 🤠
No to both and would not do either unless it was a life and death situation, just seems super super dangerous to me.

Yes, I've picked up a female hitchhiker late night on a run from Bellefonte, PA into State College, PA and she was STUNNING! If EVER temptation was whispering in my ear, it was at that moment! BUT... it is said that you ARE, only WHO you are... when no one else is around to witness and "the woman in her called to the man in me" quoting the Bee Gee's angst ballad. I drove her into town and fatherly admonished how dangerous what she had just done
('Hey there little red riding hood, you sure are lookin good.. you're everything a big bad wolf could want. Owwhow-w-w-w I mean 'ba-a-a-h'...) 3; )I've probably hitched at least 15 thousand miles through 30 states or so.. I've also picked up a lot of hitch hikers.
It's a great experience. It's a big adventure. It's total freedom. People don't know the meaning of freedom until they walk out the door with a pack on their back and just go.
My longest ride was 1800 miles. My second longest was 1200 miles. My fastest trip was 3500 miles miles in five days. My longest wait for a ride was nine hours. My coldest ride was in the back of a pickup truck going through the mountains at highway speed with snow coming down. My longest ride time wise was five days. One of my weirdest rides was in the back of a van with several religious fanatics who were passing around joints and bottles of whiskey while they preached.
I started hitching locally when I was 13. I started hitching long distance when I was 17 (about 5000 miles before 18). I've also hopped a train, which is kinda like hitching.
I’ve never hitchhiked, but i have picked up a hitcher. I’m not entirely sure she was technically hitchhiking. More like just bumming a ride to avoid or shorten her walk. I once walked nearly twenty miles home from work because my girlfriend “forgot” to pick me up. I didn’t even try to hitchhike because of my looks.
It was basically how I got around when I was a kid. It;s how I got the name Exitseven,.
I bought a hitchhiker, but I didn't hitchhike.
I don't think so, stop being so superstitious.
In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you could comment on my question.
both. it was mostly a really positive experience. where i live, specially boomers did that a lot. so you get a lot of people that age, who take you witht hem and are happy to reminisce in their own experiences returning the favor as it's not so popular these days anymore.
Me and my dad picked up a hot girl in Maui. She was just traveling around so we took her to some gardens, and we were just gonna have her join us for the rest of the day, but she was holding us up, so we ended up just ditching her at the gardens.
And one time in Poland my uncle picked up some students going to the film festival and gave them a ride into the village
Close, my uncle and I saw a parasailer land in one of the nearby properties and we took her back up to the mountain ridge where their jump point is at. She was very nice, though I don’t remember much about her other than she was Japanese and she and my uncle were talking about liquor.
I picked up this hitchhiker and he asked "Aren't you scared I could be an axe murderer?" I said "no, what's the chance of 2 of them being in the same car"
Back in day I picked up a few people, nowadays oh hell no!
one of my girlfriend's old friends tried to hitch hike kels. i started flipping out on her telling her don't you dare ever do that again and if she ever needed a ride to contact me and let me know and how dangerous it is to hitchhike now. i never told my girlfriend about it but i think she might of known.
in my teens and twenties I did both several times and had no problems. It's super nice of people to help you out when you are stranded.
Yes, I hitched in Hawaii a lot. And when I was on the Appalachian trail it saved me some extra miles into and out of town. It was the best way to get around when I had no vehicle. I never had a problem but it’s not always safe for everyone.
I hitchhiked in my early 20's it was quite fun. Then later I was driving the back roads in southern Utah pickup hitchhiker he shared some pot brownies. It was interesting trip. No smoke in the car and nobody was the wiser.
I did both when I was a lot younger.
I never did both while I was alone.

Nope. You never know if you’re going to encounter someone crazy.
Just like in the movies... they're fucking insane.
No, I just hear about that in all the true crime stories... 10/10 wouldn't recommend... scary
I've done both years ago. I got where I needed to go in 1 piece. I've helped others get where they needed to go.
I'd be nervous about doing in this day and ageNo and no. I'm not looking to get kidnapped, raped or murdered.
