I have a "land passport." It allows citizens to re-enter the United States by land or sea from neighboring countries like Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean, but is not valid for air travel.

I got it literally because I needed to renew my drivers license and could not find my original birth certificate. It was cheaper to get the land passport then it was to get the book, so I went through the whole long process of getting the thing which took like 8 weeks. I doubt I'll ever use it, as I don't plan to drive or cruise to any of these places.

Sure do. I have had one since I moved to Washington, DC in 1988 and took a job on Capitol Hill.

Since then, I have taken - using that passport - pleasure, i. e. non-work - trips to 30 countries:

Canada, Mexico, Belize, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados, Bahamas, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, France, Monaco, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro, and the Republic of Georgia. (That last was part work trip to which I tacked on some vacation time at the end.)

My goal was to get to every European country, but in the last few years, for a variety of reasons, I have not traveled as much. However, I plan to renew my passport and hopefully, though, get back to traveling soon.

This is a provably false statistic - it's invented propaganda. That's because, among other reasons, this stat includes non-Americans, meaning foreign workers, who tend to be in blue states because Democrats tend to not want to pay for Americans when they can import cheaper workers. If you limit it to actual Americans, there's only a small difference between red and blue states, and that can be explained by NYC and LA - the two biggest travel hubs - being located in blue states. NYC has traditionally been the home of journalism, publishing, and international business, and LA is the home of Hollywood, both of which are heavily-traveled industries which skew the stats.
