How about you? Do you have a passport?

I have traveled around the world. I have been in every time zone. There was only one country I was denied entry into because of no passport. At the time, I was US military and we visited many countries and did not need a passport in those countries, and could travel between countries with international paper issued by the military. I have seen just about every place I would want to visit, as well as some that I did not want to visit.
Now, at my age, I am no longer interested in international travel. I would recommend to most people that they should get a passport. I can no longer cross our northern border or our southern border without one. Someday someone may wish they had one for sudden travel desires. I see no reason to not get one other than being my age and I am settled down.
I have two passports, a Canadian passport and an American passport.
Yes, I have two. My American, and my British Passports. I love traveling overseas.
Thank you so much for the MHO, Tom.
Yes but it's out of date. The queen's still alive and we're still in the EU.

@purplepoppy Ah, the gold old days...
I thought βBrexitβ was the British leaving the EU?

No, I never go anywhere so I do not really need one.
No, my only travel out of the country will be a Caribbean cruise in the spring, and my travelling companions tell me I don't need a passport.
Please check on that. I'm pretty sure some islands in the Caribbean require an American to have a passport.
Will do!
Yeah you should definitely get a passport, even if it's not required. In the case of an emergency, say... You get stuck somewhere and don't get back to the ship in time you'd then need to get an emergency passport in order to fly back home ($$$$) but if you already have one the process would be a lot smoother.
@OlderAndWiser @Razp_Sorbet gives good advice to always carry your passport with you.
Just the other day, a flight from Puerto Rico to Miami (both United States land) diverted to Nassau in the Bahamas. Most passengers did not have passports (not needed for a US-to-US "domestic" flight) and got stuck at the Nassau airport overnight with no food, water, or sleeping gear. They could not leave the airport terminal because they were technically in The Bahamas illegally. They also had to leave their carry-on luggage on the plane, so some did not have their required medicine. They finally flew out the next day to Miami.
I understand that the process takes many months.
Nope. I have an expired one that I've never used. I've never needed one. For the last year I've considered getting one for a possible trip to Japan. But that will probably fall through.
At least the wait times have decreased. A year ago it was 12-15 weeks. Now it's more like 6-8 weeks. Although realistically it's probably shorter than the official wait time.
I wasted my money last time I got one. I don't want to waste my money getting another one that I don't use.
I have had a passport since I was like 6 years old. I dread the day I have to renew it again, such a pain in the ass process 🤣
I don't have one and i don't need one to travel outside my country is it not need within the European union.
No. I gotta get one though. I recently joined a travel group; two, actually.
i have two of them. one is us, the other is france
Yep I do, I find it strange anyone over 25 that has not travelled abroad.
Why would you want to travel to a country that don't speak your language though? Especially if you're from a rich country that have everything into it? In france we have mountain de ski, different region having their own identity, Ocean, sea and plenty of Island we truly don't need to go in another country. Majority of French never went outside their country.
@Amy10223 Some travel of course but majority of the country don't. they don't even speak English for most, we're literally the worst in Europe after Italy so
I discover the worlds by video, documentary two of my family member that travelled and is it always the same things no country are better than my own and they agree too traveling one week is fun after is it not.
Too there's lots of immigrant so just talking to them you get to learn their culture.
@Amy10223 You're in the minority though in France even people who travel don't really surround themselves in the language / culture / food of the country but stay in their hotel (who have been trained for French people, French company send their chief, make them learn the language, change all of their food, etc... to cater to the need of French people), most go to Tunisia and Morroco where all speak French and they live as if they were in France some also go to Thailand to eat Cordon bleu in a French restaurant and they don't learn the language even my uncle who travel the world went to Indonesia and only spoke French to everyone trying to get himself understood without even a words of English) So yes there's always some globe trotter learning the culture and language but majority of people just don't.
And I have health issue and weak immunity so a fun travel isn't go be very fun if I get sick and cannot get myself understood by the doctor...
@alice55 Believe it or not, there is English spoken in many countries, including Japan. So being under a doctorβs care should pose no problem except if your insurance wonβt cover you overseas.
Honestly, sending a French cook to cook French food in another country sounds as if the French think the French have no faith in othersβ cooking skills. You would be in trouble in many countries when you find they could not accommodate your tastes. It almost sounds as if France is insular in that sense.
But to each his own. I say to grow as a person and enrich yourself, you need to be accepting of others and their culture. Itβs a great way to learn, not only about others, but about yourself as well. Some people are fine with not developing more, and thatβs up to them.
@Amy10223 Japanese doctor are shit and do not give medicament strong enough, a lot of French medicament are classified as drugs there and I'm able to write in English but unable to talk it neither understand spoken one. I just can read an write in English no oral comprehension.
They kinda are, French overseas usually only eat French food and buy French brands, I love watching French documentary of travel and all of them only speak French with very bad English and only eat French food (croissant, French jam bonne mamam, French biscuit, French orange juice, etc...) they were one emission where French youth went to New york and they literally paid 5 time the price for getting French orange juice and biscuit from a French brand with French jam...). Same when they get invited they only bring French food / wine / drink.
French in majority are not very adventurous, some travel overseas just for being able to go to the beach and doing cool activity for cheaper (they wouldn't be able to pay for it in France) but want to live as if they were in France. In Spain for example in the city near France everyone speak perfect French cause they know they would only be able to make a sale if they speak French, my grandfather went in Spain to buy a couch and the sales woman spoke perfect French and they literally spend 3 hours talking in French only in Spain. There's also many French food and French music in Spanish restaurant (in the border).
My father told me it was the same in Italy and Germany.
He also asked people in the UK to cook his beef the French ways and refused to eat it the British ways.
@Amy10223 French that want tp be accommodated though only go to country where they know people speak French and cook French food, for example when I was a child my parent talked about traveling in India and America but only in Pondichery and Louisiana because they used to be our old colonies and there's still some French spoken there.
Every time I learn about another culture it comfort me to not travel an stay in my country, traveling 1 week is a things traveling more is not fun. It's not developing when you come from one of the most developed and rich country of the worlds everything is gonna be less good than at home. And in Japan is forbidden to drink and talk in metro that's just pure nonsense I don't see how is it developing to go to a country where is it forbidden to drink and you may get yourself assaulted (many White have been assaulted in Japan for this).
@alice55 Iβll tell you something. I was in a part of France very close to Spain, when my niece took me into St Jean de Luz. Beautiful beach town, close to the Basque region of Spain where my niece lives. We were sitting at a cafe having cokes with her and my daughters. She speaks and I learned in school.
But I could not understand why, when an older woman fell out of her chair, not one person got up to help her. The place was full of French people, all speaking French and no one helped her except for my niece. She then told me that she did not like the French because thatβs how they were, very inconsiderate and not helping someone in need.
Now, I donβt like to judge, so I didnβt say anything to my niece.
I also think you shouldnβt judge either, calling Japanese doctors shit. How would you like someone to say the French are shit?
Les francais sont merde. You donβt like that, do you?
Thatβs why I donβt generalize. What happened in that cafe, is the reason I wonβt go to France, either.
@Amy10223 If my mother was there she would have jump directly in her aid she love helping everyone and getting out of her ways for doing it.
I will just say something is that Basque region is not really French they have the Basque culture, they hate French people, my parents lived there for some years and people are just extremely rude to other (a guy let his dog attack my parent dog and y father to protect his dog got his hands bitten ) it's just a very rude region that is even worse than Parisian.
French doctor are shit too in majority and extremely lazy so that would be true, the Basque are also extremely rude and hateful people if you're speaking French and not Basque they would tell you to go eat shit and to go into their bar...
Japanese doctor being shit is not even my opinion but more so the multiple person that went to the doctor and had expericen with them; they refuse to give good medicament because to them the body need to heal himself and give you powder to mix with ice cream three time a day...
Some countries doctor are just worse than others that s a fact.
I don't give a shit and your sentence have been used by google traduction it literally have no meaning n French since is it grammatically incorrect.
I'm 100 % sure Basque will be delighted to not have you comeback they hate anything that isn't Basque, same with Corsican.
And foreigner not coming is a great things it mean they won't get housing price higher and regular French people will be able to live and buy a house in their freaking region / city of birth.
Yes, and I always will. I want to be able to travel anywhere at any time.
I do have a passport, however, I'm kind of determined to see my own country rather than go outside of it anytime soon. There's just lots of cool stuff to see here than travel across borders right now.
Yup, my dad does work for the UN, I love new things, but Brussels smelly people there, smh! Love London, 'mind the gap', LOL
I have a bunch... sometimes I just lose them and buy a new one. Then I fucking find it behind my desk or something else. What is the point of this question?
I only travel for the sex tourism and the free-range murders I get paid for. There is a steep price to be paid if you send me to a country where there is no alcohol, cocaine, and hookers. I might pay someone like myself to pay you a visit if you were my boss.

Passports have been required for over 100 years, not in "today's world."
