Trending & News My partner and I are planning a trip this summer along the coast of the southern States, any tips would be great.

I did, way back in 2005. We flew into Houston and rented a car and drove all the way to Pensacola and back.
Day 1: We arrived in Houston early morning and picked up our car and drove to the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana. We then stopped on the Louisiana coast and spent the night in New Iberia.

Day 2: The next morning we visited a plantation home and Avery Island/Jungle Gardens, and only drove through New Orleans at night, and slept in Mississippi (either Biloxi or Gulfport)

Day 3: We stopped on a beach in Mississippi then headed to Alabama where we visited the Belingrath Gardens and Dauphin Island. We were originally supposed to visit Fort Morgan, but the ferry wasn't running.

From there we continued to Pensacola and visited the beach on Santa Rosa Island, and did some swimming and we spend the night in Mississippi again. This was a busy day.

Day 4: We left Mississippi and drove through Louisiana again, this time though Lafayette, but we didn't explore anything. We stopped at cool rest area in Orange, TX just over the border where they had a board walk where you could see turtles. We arrived in San Antonio later that evening and visited the River Walk and Alamo and spend the night in Corpus Christi.
Day 5: The next morning we visited the national seashore on Padre Island, then visited the Goliad Mission and flew back home that evening.

Lovely sounds great
Enjoy your trip :)
Naples FL, Sarasota Fl, Clearwater Beach FL (watch out for the Scientologists), Panama City Beach FL, Biloxi MS, Gulfport MS, Cancún MX. I've never been a fan of New Orleans or Galveston TX but a lot of people like them.
for me it's Gulf of Mexico :D
Trump changed it only for the US, the other countries don't care... no one will change school books or maps because if him :D
Who am I to tell Americans what to name their gulfs?
I'm not an American :D
Nor me.
I'm your Travel Buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm a traveler who loves exploring new places and understanding different cultures. Touring the Gulf Coast is an incredible idea, with so much to offer in terms of natural beauty and vibrant culture.
Start your journey in New Orleans, Louisiana, famous for its jazz, cuisine, and French Quarter. Then, head to Gulf Shores, Alabama, for stunning beaches. Don't miss the beautiful island of Sanibel in Florida and the historic city of Pensacola. Corpus Christi in Texas offers museums and beaches worth exploring too. Enjoy the unique blend of cultures and cuisines along the Gulf! Safe travels! 🏖️🌆

I have just been to the gulf coast of Florida. I stayed on Sanibel Island. It was a nice , laid back place.
Sarasota/Longboat Key/Tampa area in Florida for some beautiful Snow White sand. Orlando is 1.5 hours away or so. We also had fun in Gulf Shores Alabama. New Orleans was fun for a day but be careful there due to crime. You can also catch a cruise out of Tampa that will take you to the Caribbean. Florida has a lot of very active cruise ports such as Miami, Port Canaveral and Jacksonville along with Tampa. Pensacola is also nice in the Florida Panhandle. Panama City Beach Florida is a touristy area for locals.
When we did a Gulf trip it was from New Orleans and then east into Florida. We later came back for cruises out of each of the ports I mentioned. Pick you the places you want to go and just head over to the port if you want to do that. They have great deals.
Oh thank you
I heard Unicorns roam free, Aliens from the Bermuda Triangle plot vengeance against The Pentagon, and Elvis Presley is hiding away with Bigfoot in his underwater lair plotting how they’ll take on Aquaman.
Fun fact: Google’s ‘Gulf of America’ is only visible to American users, so for the rest of the free world they look at it and go, “ha, silly Americans”. My response is: Silly indeed, we even have a Gulf of America holiday so please feel free to send spitballs at us, Chinese balloons, and hilarious whimsical memes our way because we won’t learn our lesson. When you elect a clown, the whole place becomes a circus.
I recommend Cuba, Mexico, and anywhere that is not accepting a ridiculous name.
I have not. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot going on in most of those places, they don’t bring much to the table, so it never drew my interest. Almost every city or state on there makes me think to myself “LOL”😂 Massachusetts is awesome and a lot of things are gold-standard here, so I feel like I’m already in the best place possible. All those states along the Gulf OF MEXICO (just lmao @ Gulf Of America, Trump is such a fucking child🤦♂️😂) usually pull up on the bottom of most rankings for all kinds of important shit, so immersing myself in any of that is of no benefit or enrichment to me. Probably some beautiful natural sights to see, but culturally, I stand to gain nothing from the exposure, so it would never be a travel priority for me.
Ran past this again and was like “dang, that was salty”, I must’ve been in a mood😂
I can say Savannah, GA was was very aesthetically charming when I rode through there once as a child
They voted him in office he does tanks the stock market ruins our relationship with Canada for no reason. He's talking about bombing Yemn and inviting journalist to top secret calls and having them on a free app.
But MAGA cheers him on because he changed the name to Gulf of America. It's weird how cults think. The guy had his wife deported and he's asking for crowd funding to get $3k to help get his wife back, so he is definitely not rich enough to benefit from Donald Trumps economic policies.
So many Republicans brain washed by a Trump a guy who was a Democrat most of his life.
So any recommendations?
If you start at the southern part of Florida and drive up II-75, then I-10 west, you'll find lots of nice spots to visit. The gulf coast of Florida has Fort Myers to Sarasota to Tampa and Tarpon Springs. The Florida panhandle has Destin and Pensacola. Mobile Alabama and Biloxi Mississippi are next. Of course there's New Orleans a bit inland in Louisiana. And then, in Texas, there's Houston and Galveston.
One could easily spend a month or more touring ths Gulf coast.
No, but I have been around the Gulf of Mexico a lot.
We might also go to Mexico
lol The debate over this renaming reminds me of the ooolllldddd song by the Four Lads, "Istanbul (not Constantinople)"
I've been dying to go to Teotihuacan and see the place that our extraterrestrial ancestors called home base. The indigenous population called it 'City of the Gods.'
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotihuacan
You mean, the gulf of mexico
And, no, I have not. I wish I could though. The problem is if you get too far east from the gulf, you wind up in the bermuda triangle. Not somewhere you want to be
We might go to Mexico too
Good luck
No. Only the gulf of Mexico. There is no "gulf of America"
We might go to Mexico too.
@Theodish_Warrior the first thing I thought when I heard gulf of Mexico was can I drink the water?
avoid Cancún...
perhaps, if you go Playa del Carmen, it will be more quiet, less crowded and you still have Tulum and Isla Mujeres nearby enough... Cancún as well, lmao
and Isla Holbox has amazing scenery
It should be "Gulf of America's'".
yes, Nassau was nice resort if have the $. New Orleans is ok, Destin Beach.
watch out for sharks.
Gulf of North America makes more sense
Honestly I have only been to parts of Florida but the coast is very touristy because beaches. I have always wanted to go to New Orleans so that might be a place to try. To be honest that trip sounds amazing so good luck
The Western beaches of Florida are great, especially south of Tampa
Thanks 😊
Never been, and never really thought to make it a destination, but now that you mentioned it.. I might think about a trip..
That's just a made up place like the right wind of Maga Culture believe Australia is not a place and that the Antarctic is the edge of the world
One of the first places I visited when I went to university outside of Europe was Canada. It was beautiful and not long after I got the chance to visit North Mexico the country bordering it to the South.
Places like Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, Houston all have populations whose English is pretty good so you can get on easily enough to order food drinks taxis and stuff. But they're very paranoid about each other. They seem to believe every other person has it in for their lives and their property so they feel their safety needs lethal weapons in their possession as a sign of paranoid fear.
No it's a real place. Texas is there
Don't think new Mexico has a coast
Is that the same place as New Spain?
@Gwendoline I've only been to Northern New Spain
@QuietRunner that's on my Bucket list of somewhere to drive coast to coast on a Motorcycle as I did it in a car and that was pretty boring.
The only part of it I've ever been to is Clearwater beach.
There's no such place as the Gulf of America, unless you're referring to the space between intelligence and about 49% of those who voted in the last election. BIG Gulf there.
I don't understand
I know, and that's the problem.
@Theodish_Warrior Talking about sheep? LOL Democracy is only good when you have an educated and intelligent populace, which was never the case in the USA. The problem is when you right-wing mf's, especially you so-called Christians, believe you're ordained by the Almighty to rule over everyone else. Compromise WORKS in a society when all parties are being served, but right now, your right wing party right is a group of gaslighting, white supremacist authoritarians who care little about anything or anybody but race preservation in the dominant role and the accumulation of wealth and power. Gee, guess what? Sounds like world history, just swap out the races.
If you're insinuating the current ship of fools running this country is the "centralized intelligent group who actually know what they're doing", you should stop commenting about sheep OR intelligence - period.
@Theodish_Warrior You possess the analytical power of an amoeba. You are mindfucked into believing you're "innately" superior, and that some groups simply are endowed that way, and it has nothing to do what they learn and how they learn it.
Every popular opinion is not incorrect, and frankly, you don't have a clue wtf I believe. You claim to have sounded alarms about... whaaat? Who are "You"? Yeah, who are "You"? Ah yes, the enlightened few who alone are capable of leading the confused, mind-fucked and brainwashed. I forgot that for a moment. You have little to no idea what's really happening in this country, nor do you even know what "left" really means. It's your favorite gas light term, but you're clueless. Anyway, I'm done wasting time with your BS.
You also don't know your facts, or apparently how to even Google competently.
The UK ranks 12th or 13th in the world in education, depending on whose rankings you use.
The USA ranks 31sst or 32nd.
worldpopulationreview.com/.../education-rankings-by-country
New Orleans for sure. The French Quarter, Bourbon Street and more.
