California is not young or free, though depending on how you define it, I suppose it could be considered vibrant.

California's population has an average age of 38, while, say, Texas is 34. California also has a crazy amount of freedom-restricting laws and regulations. We've got custom blends of gas that cost $5 per gallon and can only be made here (but the refineries are being forced out), and don't even think about a plastic straw. The folks who lost their homes to the Palisades fire are in a 5 year process just to get permits to rebuild. It's not like they need a place to live right away...

But our "mostly peaceful" protests can be quite vibrant, with looting, burning cars and buildings, and bricks flying through the air. The aftermath is less vibrant, though, as more businesses close down or move out of state, taking lots of jobs with them.

You must be a drug addict because California consistently ranks as one of the least free states. It fights with New York, New Jersey, and Hawaii most often for the bottom of the pile year after year. It's also the most polluted state and it loses more residents every year than any other state. It has a sickness and it is dying.
