Enjoying the holiday vs showing the holiday. When you are on vacation is it more important to enjoy the moment or show the world your vacation?

I'm noticing that a lot of people will get their phones out and just take pictures or videos of themselves to post on social media instead of just enjoying the moment. What kind of holiday goer are you? And what are your thoughts on the whole absence of social interaction unless it's from behind a screen?

100% enjoy the moment... and live in the moment as well

I'm not someone that takes pictures like that, not at all... I don't even have socials in the first place so I have nowhere to show them either, I value memories very much as they are... memories

and for as long as they serve me well... I will enjoy them as that, lots of visuals in my mind

I do. I like landscape photography so naturally I take photographs of everything I see when I travel. 🙃

I think for a lot of those people, being able to show other people is part of the enjoyment. I have a friend that's really into photography and likes to post on social media a lot. It's basically her hobby, ya know? Point being, stopping to take pictures or even to be hosting an entire photoshoot on vacation is often literally their mode of enjoying the vacation itself, rather than this either/or situation you've established.

Personally we go on holiday to hopefully enjoy ourselves at that time... Upon our return further enjoyment may come when showing pictures/videos to family and friends.

I have a lack of photos and videos because I agree and choose to live my life more by living in the moment. Photos and videos are nice to look back on once in while for nostalgia. But not to the excessive point everyone is at nowadays, trying to take photos and videos of every damn moment. It takes away from living in my opinion.

My main goal is to enjoy the sights when I'm traveling on vacation. I take lots of pictures, not to show others but to remind me of the places I've been in the future.

I sometimes post some of the more important pictures online (Google maps) so that others can see what a specific location is like.

Vacation is about experiencing the world more than sharing the experience… unless someone is there with you, of course.
