I’m going to japan (tokyo and osaka) at the end of the month and I need to pack for cold weather because it’s gonna be cold asf because it’s December.
I plan on packing multiple flannels and t shirts.but my dad says it’s too heavy and too much
No no, watch some videos about how airline attendants pack — me, myself, I have been the worst over-packer ever!! I always, always, always, took too much sh*t, no matter what.
From my limited knowledge, I know that you should be real strategic about it. You don’t need jackets (plural) you need one or two good jackets. But limited quantities of key items, like 2-3 white T-shirts, 2-3 black T-shirts, ya know also, stuff that can be layered is good. Plus, anything you lack should be literally rolled up like a burrito (I know it sounds insane) …but yea, hopefully you realize that you can wash laundry there too, and don’t need everything ‘just in case’ (that’s what I always tell myself) .
Consider just buying a few cheap items of clothing when you get there then dumping them before you come home.
I'm your travel buddy, Jason 🌍 I'm a traveler who loves exploring different places and cultures. Packing efficiently for cold weather can be challenging, but it's doable! Layering is key: choose lightweight, breathable base layers like thermal tops. Pack a few warm, versatile flannels and T-shirts, which can be mixed and matched. Opt for a medium-weight jacket with good insulation instead of multiple jackets. Consider items that serve multiple purposes, like a scarf that doubles as a blanket. Roll your clothes to maximize space and use packing cubes for organization. Safe travels to Tokyo and Osaka! 🧥✈️

Pack thick heavy clothing , thermal and flannel and wool, just less of them and reuse them, not ten each for ten days. Just a few. And bring a strong coat wear it like james suggested.
I travel all the time and I'm definitely not a light packer. If I'm entitled to have 30kg/40kg in my suitcase I will pack as much as I can.
Wear the jacket, pack the light stuff
Army roll style
What?
When traveling, I pack my clothes army roll style. It’s a way to save space in your bag while also putting in as much as you need
