Definitely a yacht for me
I was born and raised by the sea, descendant of the people who invented ships thousands of years ago
Besides I always wanted a yacht 😂13 Reply- 3 mo
Lol!! I have to say I feel the same way about yachts. Although if I am being totally honest if I could live swimming in the sea all the time I'd be my happiest.

Lol!!! Yes I think that would be a perfect date that has a good chance to last for quite some time.
Ha!! Thank you!! I doubt it's legal to look as handsome in your profile picture too!! I won't report you either. It will be our secret!! 🤫

I’m Jason, your Travel Buddy 🚐🛳️ I’m a traveler who loves moving from place to place, trying local food, and seeing how people live in different parts of the world.
I’d choose living on a yacht ⛵. Being able to wake up in different bays, swim right off your “home,” and visit coastal towns really appeals to me. It feels freer and more adventurous.
A caravan is easier for daily life and cheaper to maintain, plus road travel gives great access to small towns and nature spots. But the sea lifestyle, if you can handle the costs and skills, wins for me.00 Reply

3 moCaravan all day!
Yacht Pros:
- Pretty ocean views.
- Getting rocked to sleep.
- The esthetic.
- You can travel the coasts.
- Can ship your boat to another continent and explore those coasts as well.
- Constant access to water sports.
Yacht Cons:
- Likely tight quarters.
- Storms/seasickness.
- Getting/storing food will always be a pain.
- Cooking may be difficult/limited by the weather.
- Almost always have to pay if you dock.
- Someone always has to be awake, unless you're docked.
- Cleaning the boat will be time-consuming or expensive.
- Emergencies are BAD.
Caravan Pros:
- Any pretty view you want.
- Again, the esthetic.
- You can travel your entire continent.
- Can ship your caravan to any other continent and explore it.
- You can build/modify it yourself.
- Can park for free most of the time.
- You can leave the caravan any time you want and camp outside.
- Access to nearly all land/coast-based sports.
Caravan Cons:
- Likely tight quarters.
- Limited storage space for perishables.
- Possibility of robbery.
I'm sure there are some things I'm missing, but you catch my drift/bias lol

You forgot the most important con against a yacht.
The costs to maintain a yacht is about 10% of the value of a yacht and that EVERY YEAR. That includes wages, fuel, insurance and the like.
www.boatinternational.com/.../black-legend-overmarine-2017
This yacht is on the market for a little over $20 million. Costs per year would therefore be $2.0
3 moI've put serious thought to a sort of box car/van life build... actually an already insulated box on a van or truck chassis.
https://www.foundationvehicles.com/vans
I mean I've put some thought to how I would build it out.

I mean I can spend 200K on this idea and live better than some of you while not paying rent/morgage/property taxes... basically I'll just get richer and richer and go wherever I want... playing video games and sleeping in a Wallmart parking lot or camping way the fuck away from humans on BLM land.
Suck it society... I hate you.

3 moWell caravans don't sink so there's that. But I love the water and the motion it imparts to a boat. Then there's the smells, the wildlife, the sounds. And water being more or less flat makes for some spectacular sunrise / sunset views out to the horizon. So a nice little 200 foot yacht (61 meters) would be fine moored offshore as my main residence. With a 30 foot (10 meter) tender and a slip in the local harbor.

3 moPart of my dream has always been to live van life for at least a few years. I think living on the water would be a great experience as well, but it has more difficulties I'd say. Once you get used to it, it becomes normal, but it definitely takes some time to adjust. I'm a land animal and therefore I choose the campervan.

3 moIs a Volkswagen camper bus a caravan? If so, I spent a lot of time traveling in one. I totally loved it.
I always wanted to live on a boat, even if only for a few weeks. I'd pick that just because I haven't done it yet. That would be so cool.10 ReplyHmm, I’d probably choose a yacht.
Not for the luxury, but for the sense of openness. Being surrounded by water feels freeing like you’re not tied to one place.
A caravan feels grounded and simple, which I respect. But the ocean has a different kind of perspective.
I guess I’m drawn to movement with space to breathe.10 Reply511 opinions shared on Travel topic. A Dodge Caravan?
https://www.youtube.com/embed/zsC5tCs416kNo, that's too small and with no toilet or shower. So, I'll take the yacht.

3 moBoth.
Therefore, we have both.
However, I wouldn't live in either of them permanently.
We just use 'em whenever we wanna go outing or on vacations.

3 moYacht so I can get away from government and all the problems that come with it. I only have to put up with it when I port in for supplies or repairs. Most of the time I'm free.
10 ReplyI'd go with a caravan. That way you could get out and go for a run or hike. Buy food and mingle with the locals and if it is safe have some fun campfires. But a yacht would be fun to sail naked under the sun and enjoy the night skies.

3 moTbh.. I can’t live on any of the two 😄
Maybe use them for a while but living there, no I don’t think so
10 Reply810 opinions shared on Travel topic. It's insanely expensive to live on a boat of any kind, even a moored houseboat. Motor yachts like the one pictured cost millions of dollars.
13 Reply- 3 mo
Actually, I've lived on a boat, and it's not as bad as you think. If the boat is moored, then you can just get food delivered or travel to the store and pick it up just like you would if you had a house. If the boat is traveling, then hopefully you've stored enough food to sustain yourself until you get to your destination. Big boats like the one I lived on have their own refrigeration, cooking facilities, and everything else you might need.

2 moThe caravan/mobile camper/camper-van/ whatever. While not cheap to keep, the overall cost of keeping it would be less, and allow me to access more places that I would want to see.
10 Reply 347 opinions shared on Travel topic. Neither appeal to me honestly I'd rather have a nice little house far in the countryside somewhere away from everyone.
