What is your take on coed spas and saunas?

I have not been to many but co-ed is fine by me. When I was 16 I travelled to Norway with my Mom & slightly older sister. My sister and I went to a co-ed sauna and steam room while our mom did something with her work. To our shock the saunas were nude only. After a brief shock it was no big deal since my sister has seen me naked several times since we shared a bathroom. But I was worried about getting a boner the whole time! HBU?

In Europe, esp the Nordics, that is the norm. I have done so there as well.

Here in the US, less common and typically people in bathing suits, but have also been to some that allow nudity.

Ummm good to know. I think to some extent we are way too stuck up or conservative here in the USA. The Europeans are more open about sex and even topless beaches and saunas etc. What do u think?

Meh. They are what they are. You're either comfortable with them or you're not. Foe me, as long as the space is CLEAN that's what matters. (FYI even co-ed spas aren't 100% co-ed... relax a little.)

Spa areas. Even cord ones I've been to have options for single gender or private shower areas.

That’s the norm. I’ve been to pretty much nothing but co-ed spas and there’s nothing insidious or bad about it

Coed spas/saunas can be great in many European countries where mixed bathing is normal and people are used to clear etiquette. I’m fine with coed as long as there are strong rules, respectful behavior, and optional robe/towel areas.

That said, I also really value single-gender spaces—they can feel more relaxed and comfortable, especially for people who are shy or from conservative backgrounds.

In an ideal world while traveling, I like places that offer both options: coed areas for couples/friends, and single-gender zones or times for anyone who wants more privacy. ✈️🧖‍♀️🧖‍♂️
